Job summary

PacifiCorp is seeking a technically focused telecom engineer to provide planning, design, provisioning and support of enterprise private telecommunications infrastructure across generation, transmission, distribution and other utility systems.

The role encompasses FCC licensing, frequency coordination, site workflows, MAS radio administration and related duties. Multiple levels are available according to education and experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college/university.
  • Basic knowledge of telecommunications or networking experience.
  • Ability to document design of systems using computer-aided drafting program or equivalent software.
  • Familiarity with trunking, circuit design, SONET, TDM, Frame Relay, PBX and related telecom concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Independently conduct engineering research studies and analyses in specialized telecom areas.
  • Develop engineering studies, plans, specifications, calculations and design documents.
  • Coordinate with engineering disciplines and customer representatives to design telecom transport system.
  • Design major network and communications systems and update diagrams.
  • Provide budget estimates for construction project requirements.
  • Provide technical input during project planning development.
  • Deliver on commitments and coordinate with field personnel to complete tasks.
  • Maintain project timelines and budgets.
  • Prepare bid packages for external engineering services.
  • Review and evaluate system performance and tests.
  • Participate in industry groups to influence policy.
