Job summary

MasTec Communications Group is hiring a Skilled Laborer for the Long Haul Travel Crew to support aerial and underground telecom construction nationwide. You will follow safety protocols, perform digging and site prep, assist with fiber installation, and operate trucks and equipment.

You will read plans and maintain a safe job site, with opportunities for advancement. We offer competitive pay and a full benefits package.

Qualifications

• Safety is a part of your day-to-day.
• Track record of completing work with a high level of quality.
• 1–2 years of outdoor experience preferred in utilities/construction.
• Willing to lift up to 50 lbs. consistently.
• CDL Class A or B with a clean driving record in the past 3 years.
• Strong problem-solving ability and willingness to get hands dirty with the team.
• Seeking long-term projects and growth opportunities.
• Willing to learn telecom trades such as Coax/Fiber Splicing and Directional Drilling.
• Open to nationwide travel 7 days a week on a rotating schedule with overtime.

Responsibilities

• Put safety first, following all company, OSHA, and job-site requirements and using proper PPE.
• Perform hands-on construction work, including digging, trenching, site preparation, material handling, and cleanup.
• Assist with aerial and underground telecom construction, including conduit and fiber installation and fiber blowing.
• Operate and assist with trucks, trailers, and construction equipment as trained and certified.
• Learn to safely use hand tools, power tools, and telecom equipment such as bucket trucks, line trucks, and cable reels.
• Assist with basic troubleshooting and repair of RF and fiber systems.
• Learn to read construction prints, maps, and design plans.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site and perform other duties as assigned.
