Job summary

YMCA of Greater Charlotte seeks a Teen Program Counselor to engage and mentor teens within YMCA programs, leading activities and ensuring a safe, inclusive environment. The role emphasizes relationship-building, program planning support, and positive youth development.

You will collaborate with staff and volunteers, facilitate leadership activities, and assist with community outreach to boost teen participation in YMCA programs.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• To work with teens aged 12–18 in YMCA programs.
• Commitment to a safe, inclusive environment per YMCA policies.
• Willingness to complete safety, risk, and programming certifications as required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and facilitate structured activities, events, and group discussions with teens.
• Assist in planning teen-focused programs, including leadership development and community service projects.
• Build positive relationships and mentor teen participants.
• Supervise teens during activities to ensure engagement and safety.
• Maintain safety and enforce rules per YMCA policies.
• Foster inclusive environments where teens feel valued.
• Encourage leadership, teamwork, and decision-making in youths.
• Communicate updates with staff, parents, and volunteers.
