Job summary

Boys & Girls Clubs of Elkhart County seeks a Program Supervisor to lead youth programs, manage staff, and ensure safe, engaging activities aligned with our mission.

You will design developmentally appropriate programming, monitor outcomes, and collaborate with the Operations Manager to maintain quality and compliance. This role requires strong communication and a minimum of two years supervising youth, plus the ability to lift 20 lbs and flexible hours.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience supervising staff and youth in a group setting.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience supporting youth with diverse needs, including behavioral or social-emotional supports.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other relevant systems.
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license required.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including lifting up to 20 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and hold program staff and volunteers accountable for performance, engagement, and youth safety.
  • Provide daily direction, coaching, and feedback to staff in assigned program areas.
  • Support staff understanding of program expectations, routines, and youth development strategies.
  • Assist with staff onboarding, training, and scheduling as assigned.
  • Model professionalism, inclusion, and positive relationship-building with youth and staff.
  • Plan, implement, and supervise engaging, age-appropriate programs aligned with organizational strategy and site priorities.
  • Ensure program activities are purposeful, structured, and responsive to youth needs.
  • Prepare program spaces, materials, and schedules to support effective daily execution.
  • Support special programs, theme weeks, enrichment opportunities, and events within the assigned area.
  • Build positive, supportive relationships with members to promote belonging and participation.
  • Use youth development strategies to support social-emotional growth, confidence, and skill development.
  • Monitor engagement levels and adapt activities to support positive youth outcomes.
  • Support inclusive practices that meet the needs of diverse learners and youth requiring additional support.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming program environment at all times.
  • Ensure members understand and follow behavioral expectations.
  • Respond to behavior challenges using trauma-informed and developmentally appropriate approaches.
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies, supervision standards, and facility requirements.
  • Communicate incidents or concerns promptly to leadership.
  • Track attendance, participation, and required program data accurately.
  • Support documentation related to grants, compliance, and program outcomes.
  • Observe program quality and make adjustments to improve effectiveness.
  • Communicate program needs, successes, and challenges to the Operations Manager or Club Director as appropriate.
  • Design and support programs that promote leadership, workforce readiness, and life skills for teen members.
  • Foster a safe, respectful environment that encourages youth voice, choice, and responsibility.
  • Support mentorship, career exploration, and post-secondary readiness opportunities.
  • Navigate age-appropriate independence while maintaining clear boundaries and accountability.

The Program Supervisor is accountable for leading, managing, and holding staff accountable for the delivery of high-quality, engaging, and safe programs within an assigned program area. This role designs and executes developmentally appropriate programming, supports positive youth outcomes, ensures safety and behavior expectations are met, and monitors program quality and compliance. Program Supervisors are frontline leaders who model youth development best practices and the organization’s mission and values.

Duties & Responsibilities

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience supervising staff and school-age youth in a group setting.
  • Demonstrated competence working with youth.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience supporting youth with diverse needs, including those requiring behavioral or social-emotional support.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other relevant systems.
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and active automobile insurance required.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including lifting up to 20 lbs and extended periods of standing or sitting.
