Job summary

The Teen Program Associate Temp at Louisiana Children's Museum will support a 14- to 16-week program, serving as a positive role model for teen participants in the Character Education program. Under the Teen Program Coordinator, you will help implement hands-on, place-based learning experiences fostering character development and workforce readiness.

You will assist with activities, engagement, attendance tracking, lesson prep, and daily program operations, ensuring a safe, welcoming learning

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of experience working with youth or teens ages 13–18.
  • Ability to engage and build positive relationships with teens.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Promote the culture, mission, and brand of Louisiana Children's Museum.
  • Project a positive image of LCM to students, educators, employees, volunteers, and guests.
  • Assist in facilitating character education lessons, presentations, workshops, and experiential learning opportunities for teens.
  • Support participant engagement and encourage active involvement in program activities.
  • Serve as a positive mentor and role model for teens participating in the program.
  • Assist with classroom and group management to maintain a productive learning environment.
  • Help prepare, organize, set up, and break down program materials and learning spaces.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and assist with participant documentation.
  • Support recruitment and communication efforts with participants, families, schools, faith organizations, and community partners as directed.
  • Assist with documenting teen experiences through photographs, observations, and written records to support grant reporting requirements.
  • Attend program meetings and trainings as assigned.
  • Communicate participant needs, concerns, and successes to the Teen Program Coordinator.
  • Support special events, field experiences, and community engagement opportunities related to the program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

The Teen Program Associate Temp will support the Louisiana Children's Museum for 14-16 weeks, as a dependable team member who serves as a positive role model for teen participants in Louisiana Children's Museum's Character Education Program. Working under the direction of the Teen Program Coordinator, this position supports the implementation of hands‑on, place‑based learning experiences that foster character development, civic engagement, leadership, and workforce readiness.

The Associate assists with program activities, participant engagement, attendance tracking, lesson preparation, and day‑to‑day program operations. This role helps create a safe, welcoming, and enriching learning environment while providing mentorship and encouragement to teen participants. The Associate also supports documentation efforts and contributes to the successful delivery of grant‑funded program objectives.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least 1 year of experience working with youth or teens ages 13–18 in an educational, recreational, after‑school, camp, mentoring, or community‑based setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and build positive relationships with teens.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and take direction from program leadership.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 Suite.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as program needs require.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout indoor and outdoor museum spaces.
  • Must be able to assist with on‑site programs and operate museum exhibits.
  • Must be able to set up and break down program materials and equipment.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and maneuver items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments as required by programming.
