YMCA of Greater New York is seeking a part-time Teen Advisor at La Central YMCA in Bronx, NY. The role supports teen programs, supervises activities, and ensures safety and documentation compliance.

The Teen Advisor will lead lessons, recruit participants, and report outcomes, while promoting a diverse, inclusive environment aligned with YMCA standards. Prior experience with teens and Mandated Reporter training within 30 days is preferred.

Formación

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required or preferred.
• One year of experience working with pre-teens and teens (ages 13+) preferred.
• Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office and related tools are expected.

Responsabilidades

• Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of participants with close supervision.
• Plan, create, and facilitate lesson plans for all teen programs.
• Manage participant paperwork, surveys, and reporting per City agencies and YMCA standards.
• Manage adolescent behavior with respect and encouragement.
• Develop positive relationships with teens and families.
• Lead programming focusing on social-emotional learning and skill development.
• Collaborate with staff across departments to support teen services.
• Create an inclusive environment sensitive to teen needs.
• Attend meetings, trainings, and special events as required.
• Adhere to Health, YMCA, and funder standards and regulations.

The La Central YMCA is seeking Teen Advisors. Underthe supervision of the Teen Coordinator, the Teen Advisor will play a criticalrole in the successful operation of the teen programs. The Teen Advisor willlead and supervise all teen services and programs, including Teen Center, RoweScholars, Leaders Club, and Saturday Night Lights. In addition, the TeenAdvisor will be responsible for advertising and recruiting participants,ensuring proper documentation and reporting, and meeting program outcome goalsand deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensurethe health, safety, and well-being of participants in the program byproviding close supervision of all activities and ensuring spaces areclean and supplies are well-maintained.
• Plan,create, and facilitate lesson plans for all programs.
• Manageadministrative data entry in various systems, including Youth Service.NET,coordinate participant paperwork, conduct program surveys, and meet allother requirements outlined by City agencies and the YMCA’s TeenStandards.
• Mustbe able to manage adolescent behavior with respect, maturity, compassion,and encouragement.
• Developpositive relationships with the participants, their friends, and familymembers.
• Leadprogramming with a focus on Social Emotional Learning and skilldevelopment.
• Abilityto work cooperatively with professional staff and other departments.
• Createan environment that is diverse, culturally sensitive, and relevant to theneeds of teens.
• Activelyparticipate in designated meetings, training sessions, and special events.
• Adhereto all Department of Health, YMCA of Greater New York, and funderstandards, expectations, and regulations.

Desired Skills & Experience

• HighSchool Diploma or equivalent required. College credits preferred.
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with pre-teens and teens (ages 13 and older).
• Generalknowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Knowledgeof Access, Adobe PageMaker, and Photoshop preferred.
• Mustcomplete the Mandated Reporter Training within thirty (30) days of hire.
• Stronginterpersonal skills, leadership qualities, and comfortable working withdiverse youth and adults.
