Job summary

Lateral Link is seeking a mid-level associate for its Silicon Valley/San Francisco technology transactions group. You will draft and negotiate licenses, joint ventures and IP agreements for a client base ranging from VC-backed startups to major platforms.

The ideal candidate has 3–8 years of experience, comfort with fast-moving deals, and a California bar admission (or eligibility). A Cravath-scale package with a full year-end bonus is offered.

Qualifications

• 3–8 years of technology transactions or commercial IP experience, at a firm or in-house.
• Reps drafting and negotiating licenses and complex commercial agreements.
• Comfort with fast-moving deals and emerging-technology clients.
• California bar admission, or eligibility to sit.

Job description

The AI licensing wave has turned technology transactions into the busiest seat in Silicon Valley — every model license, data deal, and strategic alliance runs through a commercial lawyer before it runs through anyone else, and the groups here can't staff the work fast enough.

An elite global firm with a nationally ranked technology transactions practice is hiring a mid-level associate (3–8 years) for its Silicon Valley and San Francisco offices, with counsel title on the table at 7+. Cravath scale — $260K–$435K depending on class year, plus a full year end bonus for laterals who join before year end.

You'd work directly with the practice heads on the commercial side of the technology economy — the licenses, alliances, and IP structures behind the deals — for a client base that runs from venture-backed startups to the largest platforms in the Valley, in a California group that's growing fast enough that the runway to partner is real.

The work includes:

• Technology, content, and data licensing, including LLM and AI model licenses
• Joint ventures, strategic alliances, and commercial and supply agreements
• IP and technology support on M&A and financings, including diligence and transition services
• Product counseling on emerging AI, data, and open source issues
