Job summary

CEC Companies in Irving, TX is seeking a Technology Technician to support maintenance, installations, additions, and repairs of structured cabling systems on various projects. You will work under a Foreman or Superintendent to ensure safety and efficiency on site.

Responsibilities

• Lay out work and prep materials for installation.
• Perform overhead and underground layout and rough-in.

• Measure, cut, bend, assemble and install cable tray.
• Assemble and install relay racks, network cabinets, and components.
• Perform fiber optic installation and terminations.
• Troubleshoot, repair and resolve problems in structured cabling systems.
• Operate power and hand tools and equipment.
• Perform other project related duties as assigned.

Position SummaryAs a Technology Technician, you will work under the guidance of a Foreman or Superintendent. Your main responsibilities will be providing skilled maintenance, installations, additions, and/or repair and troubleshooting of structured cabling systems, associated materials and equipment on any type of project. This is a safety sensitive position.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesLay out work and preps materials for installation.Perform overhead and underground layout and rough-in.Terminate all types of copper cable including coaxial, multi-pair and Category 3 through 6.Measure, cut, bend, assemble and install cable tray using measuring devices and hand tools.Assemble and install relay racks, network cabinets, wall fields and associated components.Perform fiber optic cable installation and terminations of all types.Perform structured cabling installations in new and existing facilities following diagrams, schematics, or blueprints.Correctly set up and operate copper and fiber optic testing equipment.Troubleshoot, repair, adjust, and resolve problems in structured cabling systems.Operate any power and hand tools and equipment necessary to perform all associated tasks.Perform other project related duties and assignments as instructed by supervisor.Other Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective processes, completion of projects and smooth operation of department.Education and ExperienceMinimum 3 years of experience of on the job communications work experience as well as demonstrated skills at the Technician level.High School Graduate, GED, or equivalent.Required Skills, Knowledge, and AbilitiesMust have a current Drivers License and reliable transportation.Must meet attendance standards and comply with late/absence notification procedures.Must be able to pass drug and background check.Work EnvironmentThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
