Job summary

Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) seeks a Technology Strategy Manager to lead cross-functional technology planning, roadmapping, and executive-ready recommendations connecting advanced tech with future Hyundai/Kia product plans.

You will partner with engineering, product strategy, and HQ teams to mature portfolios and guide strategic decisions. The role requires strong collaboration with regional affiliates, universities, and external partners, plus budget and process governance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an automotive-related field.
• 7+ years of automotive, mobility, technology strategy, product planning, advanced development, or closely related experience.
• Ability to attend video conferences with colleagues from other time zones as needed (1–2x/month, 7:00–8:00 PM ET)
• Ability to lead cross-functional work independently in a fast-paced environment, including influencing contributors not under direct authority
• Experience managing, mentoring, training, or developing team members in a technical, strategic, cross-functional environment
• Experience setting team goals, managing project calendars, tracking deliverables, and controlling budgets or project spending
• Ability to explain technical topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word
• Excellent time management, self-management, project management, and organization skills
• Strong written, oral, interpersonal, and leadership skills
• Preferred: Master’s degree in automotive-related field
• 10+ years of relevant experience in automotive/technology strategy
• Experience working with startups and suppliers
• Experience developing long-term technology roadmaps
• Broad understanding of automotive tech/regulatory landscape
• Experience bringing tech from concept to high-volume production
• Experience with patents and IP
• Familiarity with innovation techniques
• Experience with Tableau, PowerBI, MS Copilot, Notion, Confluence, Smartsheets
• Ability to read and speak Korean

Responsibilities

• Lead cross-functional activities to connect engineering, product planning, and programs across regions.
• Manage the advanced development portfolio and roadmaps with status tracking and review gates.
• Maintain technology roadmaps and evaluation frameworks for strategic fit and value.
• Lead technology sensing in North America and build university/industry relationships.
• Translate discoveries into actionable planning implications for product/market needs.
• Summarize technical and business tradeoffs for executive alignment and decisions.
• Coordinate budget, contracts, IP, and resource needs for projects.
• Mentor and develop team members with clear goals and development plans.
• Control and track budgets for planning, collaborations, events, and travel.
• Create repeatable processes, templates, and reporting standards for visibility and reuse.
• Support patent/idea-management and external collaboration processes.
• Plan technologies showcases and information-sharing events for stakeholders.
• Travel up to 20% domestically and internationally.
