Job Summary

The Head of R&D and Technical Operations IT is seeking a highly talented and motivated Technology Strategist to partner with R&D and co-create business plans powered by technology. We are looking for a dynamic, business-savvy leader to lead technology initiatives within R&D. Deep domain expertise across Research & Early Development, Clinical Development, Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, and R&D Operations is crucial. Experience supporting R&D activities for genetically defined conditions across various stages and modalities is essential. The candidate should have a deep understanding of data and technology in R&D and a commitment to driving drug development through innovation.

This role involves serving as a strategic partner and trusted advisor to R&D teams globally, creating a technology strategy aligned with business goals and enterprise technology strategy, identifying opportunities for efficiencies and innovation, and supporting technology oversight activities.

Key Expectations

• Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement the IT strategy for R&D aligned with company objectives, support a pipeline supporting multiple therapeutic areas, and partner with R&D leaders to co-create technology-powered business plans.
• Management: Lead and develop a team of Technology Partners, manage budgets with a P&L mindset, facilitate Business Reviews, advocate for cybersecurity, and prioritize results with quality and technical rigor.
• Innovation: Stay updated on industry trends, identify opportunities for innovation including AI, support a culture of continuous improvement, and enhance data security and compliance.
• Growth Mindset: Leverage platforms and vendors for faster implementation, focus on delivering high-quality solutions, and foster a culture of efficiency and quality.
• Value Commitment: Communicate strategies, initiatives, and performance metrics effectively, and demonstrate strategic thinking and data-driven decisions.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in R&D (IT or Business) with a passion for technology.
• Experience across R&D functions including Research & Early Development, Clinical, Medical, Regulatory, and Operations.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in relevant fields such as computer science, business, or drug development.
• Minimum 7 years managing multidisciplinary global teams and portfolios.
• Experience building high-performing teams, preferably with Agile methodologies.
• Pharmaceutical or healthcare industry experience is highly desirable.

• AI, including deploying AI applications in R&D workflows.
• Veeva, Microsoft Productivity Tools, Azure, Azure OpenAI, Databricks, data analytics, and security practices.
