Providence College in Rhode Island seeks an IT media support specialist to ensure classrooms and events run smoothly, handling audio/visual equipment and presentations.

You will assist faculty and staff with laptops, projectors, Crestron devices, Apple TV, Solstice pods, and related gear, and troubleshoot issues during events.

The role requires 1–3 years of technology support experience; an associate degree is required and a bachelor’s is preferred; this is a full‑time on‑site position.

Responsibilities

  • Support institution-owned hardware and assist with lab deployments and repairs.
  • Create and share self-service knowledge articles; document solutions in Team Dynamix.

Provide primary support for all media production and computertechnology located in academic, administrative, and events spaces.This position also provide functional redundancy to the TechnologyServices & Application Support Specialists.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Ensure that all classroom and event spaces function properlyand are continuously ready for use by the college community.Respond to high priority tickets placed for instructionaltechnology support in classrooms and labs to prevent classdisruption. Ensure the timely processing of event requests formedia presentations. (25%)
  2. In conjunction with Service Desk management, coordinate withstudent staff on the setup and operation of on-site media equipmentevent support and event recordings. Manage audio and videoproduction, mixing, and audio and video recording of on-siteevents. Troubleshoot integration and operational problems. Assignand integrate appropriate equipment for the task and operateequipment when necessary. (20%)
  3. Assist faculty, staff, and visiting presenters on use ofendpoint technology (laptops, tablets, phones, etc.), as well aspresentation media equipment (projectors, Crestron devices,solstice pods, Apple TV’s, etc.) and troubleshoot problems duringpresentations. Assist the faculty and other users in specific mediahardware or software related presentations. (20%)
  4. Provide support for other related IT staff in the field andverify issues prior to escalation. Assist with the networkconfiguration of devices including working with systemadministrators when deploying new technologies and network upgradesas well as troubleshooting server and/or network access issues ondevices. Assist faculty and staff with support of non-standardapplications and assess if the problem is related to computer,network, or AV infrastructure. (15%)
  5. Assist Technology Services & Application SupportSpecialists in support of institutionally owned hardware of alltypes. Assist with the deployment of computers, networking cables,and configuration of space when upgrading existing labs and newdeployments. Assist with performing hardware repairs as needed onall endpoints including computers, tablets, and printers.(10%)
  6. Serve as an escalation point for the Helpdesk SupportSpecialist as well as IT student workers, especially with walk-intickets. Provide support for both standard and complex hardware andsoftware issues. Track common issues and document solutions usingTeam Dynamix and other supported systems. Share documentation withother technicians as well as Helpdesk Support Specialists so moreissues are resolved on first contact. Create self-service knowledgebase articles for Team Dynamix. (10%)

Education and Experience
  • Associate’s, vocational, or technical school degree from anaccredited institution required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • One to three years’ experience working in a technology supportposition.
  • Intermediate experience with media presentation technology andvideo editing.
  • Basic knowledge of endpoint computer technology.
