Overview
Responsible for nursing and interdisciplinary student simulationeducation and related program support, equipment management, andcontent development and delivery. Work closely with nursingfaculty, students, and other stakeholders to ensure thatsimulation-based learning experiences are effective and alignedwith educational goals. Note: The hours for this position are 11:00a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct preventive maintenance checks and services ofsimulation equipment and troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.Prepare, maintain, and troubleshoot technical and mechanicalaspects of the simulators and exam rooms, including themaintenance, cleaning, and reporting of any required repairs.Attain mastery of simulator operations software and a comprehensiveknowledge of hardware characteristics, including coordinating withvendors to resolve serious mechanical failures. Install softwareupdates on computers and maintain manikin components as directed bymanufacturer support. Collaborate with Information Technology andsimulation system vendors to install software updates and identifyand isolate simulation system and network-related issues. Followsup on ticket resolutions. (35%)
- Assist in inventory of consumable and equipment supplies andrestocking labs and simulation space as needed. Responsible for theproper setup, reset, operation, breakdown, storage, and technicalsupport of simulation systems, computers, sim space, manikins, andsupplies. Provide theatrical production (costuming and Moulage) forsimulation scenarios as needed. Coordinate activities in theControl Room and operate simulators, task trainers, and theaudio-visual equipment. Capture, edit, and replay simulationsessions for debriefing. (35%)
- Assist in the development and implementation of simulationeducation courses and experiences. Support faculty with open lab orremediation hours as needed. Attend industry conferences andparticipate in the continuing education professional development tostay current on the rapidly evolving simulation technologyeducation. (15%)
- Assist faculty in the development, testing, and implementationof detailed clinically based simulation scenarios. Supportprofessional staff with special projects, tours of the building,and in-person special events as needed. (10%)
- Collect data for ongoing quality improvements, research, orgrant requirements. (5%)
MARGINAL DUTIES:
- Perform all other duties as may be required.
Education and Experience
- Associate’s degree in technology or a health-related field froman accredited institution required.
- One to three years’ experience working with simulationtechnologies (Laerdal and Gaumard) in a nursing or clinicaleducation setting or experience in healthcare practice and will tolearn simulation or an equivalent combination of education andexperience.
- Two years’ experience in a related environment preferred.Experience in an academic, clinical, or medical settingpreferred.
- Basic simulation equipment experience.
- Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology or willingness to betrained.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to effectively and independently coordinate multipletasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to adapt to and take full advantage of changingtechnology in nursing simulation.
