Job summary

Northern Trust is seeking a Principal, Technology Risk and Control to own the Technology Issue Management program end-to-end in a global setting. You will partner with Global Technology, Risk, Compliance, and Audit to ensure complete issue inventories and disciplined risk management.

The role leads the design and delivery of program enhancements, analytics, and AI-enabled use cases, while overseeing training and governance across risk and technology teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in technology, information security, cybersecurity, or related discipline.
• Minimum of 10+ years of experience in technology risk management, control functions, audit services, or related roles with transferable skills.
• Prior experience within the financial services industry is strongly preferred.
• Relevant technology or security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISA and CRIC) and professional qualifications are an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Oversee end-to-end ownership of the Technology Issue Management program operations.
• Provide program and project management leadership for design, development, and implementation of operational enhancements to the Technology Risk and Control Issue Management Program.
• Lead the simplification, standardization, and automation of metrics and reporting using Power BI; develop analytics and AI-enabled use cases for risk insights.
• Design, deliver, and administer training programs for Risk and Control staff, Technology teams, issue owners, and stakeholders.
• Manage day-to-day operations: executive materials, issue review forums, follow-up actions, high-risk validation, and status reporting.
• Drive accountability by enforcing process requirements and standards across Control Officers and stakeholders.
• Continuously assess program effectiveness and identify opportunities for maturity enhancements.
• Serve as the primary face for the Technology Issue Management Program with stakeholders on adoption and expansion.
