Job summary

The Huntington National Bank is seeking an IT Risk Director to oversee Information/Technology Availability and Value Delivery risk areas. This senior role acts as a 2nd line of defense, providing independent risk insights and credible challenge to ensure resilient technology delivery across the enterprise.

You will lead a high-performing team, shape the IT Risk Program strategy, and coordinate with 1st line risk groups and business units.

Qualifications

• Expert understanding of IT processes, risks and controls (IT risk and control frameworks such as COBIT).
• Ability to develop, attract, retain a high performing team; coach and develop colleagues at all levels.
• Experience in IT infrastructure engineering, application development (Agile/DevOps/CI/CD), IT change/incident/problem management, IT resiliency.
• Prior leadership in a large firm; financial services experience desired.
• Certifications such as ISACA CRISC/CISA/CISM, ISC2 CISSP/SSCP, ITIL.

Description Summary

The IT Risk Director provides primary oversight for Information/Technology Availability and Value Delivery (Agile, systems lifecycles, production assurance) risk areas. This 2nd line of defense role includes providing credible challenge and partnership to those areas tasked with ensuring Huntington can deliver world-class technology capabilities in a resilient manner, as well as assisting 1st line risk teams with their understanding and management of associated risks. This role functions as a senior member of the IT Risk team and will be required to provide an independent, expert view in materials and forums, up to and including the Board of Directors.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Leading a high-performing team
• Providing Risk Management leadership across the Bank’s Information and Technology risks
• Providing leadership in determining the IT Risk Program’s strategy and areas of focus
• Ownership of the IT Availability and Value Delivery sub-risks in the Huntington IT Risk Framework and Taxonomy, including relevant assessments and metrics/indicators
• Leadership of the Agile Risk Framework across the Bank
• Engagement and partnership with business units that deliver IT availability/value delivery, as well as with 1st line risk groups that directly support those business units
• Leadership and participation in the quarterly IT Risk Assessment, which details the comprehensive, aggregate IT risk profile for the Bank
• Providing ‘vertical’ 2nd line IT risk coverage for the Corporate Technology, Corporate Operations, and Customer Solutions Center business segments – to more deeply understand the landscape for those areas of Huntington and therefore enhance engagement in new business initiatives, oversight of any remediation programs, etc.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to work collaboratively and influence/drive consensus across a large and growing company
• Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills; ability to speak autonomously on behalf of the 2nd Line of Defense
• Expert understanding of the IT process (developing, delivering, supporting technology) and associated grasp of risks and controls
• Ability to develop, attract, retain a high performing team; demonstrated ability to coach and develop colleagues at all levels of seniority
• Previous experience as a practitioner in one or more areas: IT infrastructure engineering/support; application development with strong preference for previous Agile/DevOps/DevSecOps/CI/CD experience; IT change/incident/problem management processes; IT resiliency including disaster recovery
• Previous experience at a large firm, ideally in a leadership position; prior/current financial services industry experience is also desired
• Understanding of IT risk and control frameworks such as COBIT, etc.
• Strong preference for recognized industry certification such as ISACA CRISC/CISA/CISM, ISC2 CISSP/SSCP, ITIL, or similar.
• Where these certifications are not possessed at the time of hire, the candidate will be expected to obtain certification within a 12-month period.
