Indyme is a retail technology company headquartered in San Diego, California. We build customer assistance systems and loss prevention solutions deployed across thousands of retail locations in the United States. Our product portfolio spans hardware, embedded software, and cloud services - including intelligent call button systems, the Freedom Case self-service locking cabinet, and cloud-based analytics and case management integrations. We serve major US retailers with long sales cycles and a focus on measurable outcomes: more assisted sales, less shrink, better shopper experience.
Indyme is growing fast. We are expanding our product portfolio, entering new retail verticals, and building the partner ecosystem that will define our next phase. For the right person, this is a rare opportunity to join a company at an inflection point and leave a visible mark on its trajectory.
The Role
This is a newly created position designed to build and lead Indyme's external product partnership practice. You will be the primary interface between Indyme and a growing set of partners across two categories:
- Co-development partners - companies designing new products or custom hardware variants with Indyme.
- Integration partners - companies whose platforms connect with Indyme's cloud layer to extend value for shared retail customers. These integrations are typically retailer-driven and involve cloud API connectivity.
This role sits within the Product and Marketing team, working closely with engineering, sales, and executive leadership. You will have real ownership: the freedom to set the direction for how Indyme engages with partners, introduce new ideas, and make decisions that shape the product roadmap. The primary success metric is not the number of partnerships established, but the revenue generated from joint activities - new products launched, integrations adopted, joint deals closed.
Responsibilities
Business and Commercial (approximately 70-80% of the role)
- Identify new partnership opportunities aligned with Indyme's product strategy and bring them through qualification to agreement.
- Own and develop relationships with current and prospective partners at the business, product, and executive levels.
- Define and negotiate the commercial and operational terms of partnership agreements, working with the VP of Marketing and Products and CEO to finalize and close.
- Build and maintain joint go-to-market plans with partners, including coordinated sales efforts, co-marketing activities, and channel enablement.
- Actively support partner sales teams in understanding and positioning Indyme products. Serve as Indyme's face to the partner and the partner's advocate internally.
- Track and report on partnership performance against revenue and adoption targets.
Product and Technical (approximately 20-30% of the role)
- Lead the scoping and definition of co-developed products with partners, from concept through launch. Collaborate closely with Indyme product and engineering on feasibility, architecture, and timelines.
- Hold credible technical conversations with partner engineers and product teams across software, electronics, and mechanical domains. You do not need to be an engineer, but you need to earn their respect.
- Translate partner requirements into clear product briefs and scope documents for Indyme's internal teams.
- Manage the product lifecycle of partnership-originated products alongside internal product management.
- Evaluate inbound integration requests and prioritize based on customer demand and strategic fit.
Qualifications
Required
- 5 or more years of experience in a partnership, business development, or product management role, ideally in a B2B technology company.
- Demonstrated ability to build and manage complex external relationships at multiple levels -- from technical leads to executive sponsors.
- Experience negotiating commercial agreements and partnership terms.
- Comfort discussing technical topics across software and hardware domains. You should be able to engage substantively with an engineering team and know when to elevate.
- Strong written and verbal communication. You represent Indyme externally; professional presence and clarity are non-negotiable.
- Ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy. This is a lean team. You own your work.
Preferred
- Background in retail technology, loss prevention, or related sectors.
- Experience with hardware or IoT products, not just software platforms.
- Familiarity with cloud API integrations and the technical vocabulary of SaaS connectivity.
- Track record of launching new products or joint offerings with external partners.
