Overview

The Technology Implementation Communication Specialist is responsible for developing and executing communication strategies to inform and engage users throughout the process of implementing new technologies within UnityPoint Health. They will be responsible for ensuring clear communications are developed and deployed that, in partnership with multiple departments (HR, IT, Marketing and Communications, etc.), provide necessary information for different audiences. As part of the Marketing and Communications team, this role will collaborate with cross-functional team members to achieve the objectives associated with these high priority, technology focused projects.

Hours: Monday-Friday, standard business hours

Location: Remote - applicants must reside in the UnityPoint Health footprint of Iowa, Illinois, or Wisconsin

Responsibilities

Strategic Partnership, Consultation and Planning

  • Develop, execute and manage a comprehensive communications strategy aligned with the technology implementation timeline, identifying key messages and determining appropriate communication channels.
  • Ensure communications align with the organization’s strategic plan and key focus areas.
  • Build effective relationships with the project team and organization leaders.
  • Identify and manage key stakeholders, including end users and leadership, to ensure effective communication throughout the implementation process.
  • Develop detailed knowledge of the technology to be able to clearly explain features and functionalities and the benefits.
  • Partner with the Transformation Management Office on change management activities by addressing potential resistance to change and providing support to users during implementation, transition and adoption.
  • Partner with project team to ensure training sessions and workshops are part of the communications plan to educate users.
  • Communicate with a complex workforce audience that is both onsite and mobile, as well as spread out across various geographies and locations.
  • Advise on proper socialization plans and development of necessary communications to support the continued growth and evolution of technology and technical based marketing communications within UPH.

Writing & Materials Development

  • Write and edit communication material and manage review process with project, organization and department leaders, as well as other stakeholders.
  • Gather needed information from project team for communication materials including emails, newsletter articles, presentations, user guides, tip sheets, training materials and more.
  • Ensure communications are aligned with other current organizational messages and communication guidelines.
  • Ensure communications are in plain language and distill complex, technical information so it is easily understandable for a wide range of audiences.
  • Partner with Marketing and Communications internal communications, creative services and digital team members to develop necessary support materials.

Project Management

  • Manage project from conception to implementation.
  • Ensure synchronization of communication activities to increase impact and avoid information overload.
  • Responsible for communication plans, timelines, status reports and project completion results reporting back to department leaders and project team.
  • Monitor user feedback and make adjustments to communication strategies based on user needs and concerns.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related field

Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in corporate communications, internal communications or account service.
  • Experience in healthcare industry, or experience in account or agency management with an emphasis in technology and digital focused projects or clients is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Workday, UKG Advanced Scheduling, SiteCore, Kyruus, SharePoint and EPIC technology platforms a plus but not required.

Skills

  • Knowledge of healthcare industry and the organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities to convey complex technical information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Basic knowledge of the technology being implemented to effectively communicate its features and benefits.
  • Ability to plan and execute communication activities within project timelines and meet deadlines.
  • Understanding of change management principles and strategies to facilitate user adoption.
  • Ability to tailor communication messages to different user groups based on their needs and technical proficiency.
  • Ability to anticipate and proactively identify upcoming needs, risks or opportunities.
  • Possess consultative “client service” skills and a demonstrated ability to work with senior management to analyze problems, recommend appropriate communication solutions and facilitate more informed decisions.
  • Professional demeanor and ability to build relationships and work effectively with all levels and types of staff.
  • Effectively manage multiple projects and deadlines, self-starter.
  • Track record of professional accomplishments which demonstrate superior performance, leadership and vision.
