Job summary

CMTA, a Legence company, seeks a Technology Designer - Physical Security in Chicago to design and document physical security systems for mission critical, industrial, and commercial facilities. You will develop layouts, device plans, and detailed specs, coordinating with architecture, electrical, and ICT teams.

The role requires 10+ years in security design, proficiency with Revit/AutoCAD, and strong communication skills. Travel for site surveys is expected; ASIS certifications are a plus.

Position Overview

CMTA, a Legence company, is seeking a Technology Designer - Physical Security, to join our growing Technology team in Chicago. This position will support the planning, design, and documentation of physical security systems for a variety of project types, including mission critical, industrial, commercial, and other complex facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Design physical security systems including access control, intrusion detection, and video surveillance systems.
• Develop security system layouts, device plans, details, riser diagrams, schedules, and technical specifications.
• Prepare and coordinate construction documents using Revit and AutoCAD.
• Coordinate security requirements with architectural, electrical, ICT, and other building systems.
• Participate in site surveys, field verification, and documentation of existing conditions.
• Assist with equipment selection and development of basis-of-design and system requirements.
• Support review of product submittals, RFIs, and other construction administration activities.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, designers, clients, and other project stakeholders.
• Manage multiple assignments and priorities while meeting project schedules and deadlines.

Desired Experience

• 10+ years of experience designing or implementing physical security systems.
• Experience with access control, intrusion detection, and video surveillance systems.
• Experience developing security design and construction documentation.
• Proficiency with Revit and/or AutoCAD preferred.
• Experience working within multidisciplinary architectural and engineering project teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team.
• Ability to travel locally for site surveys and project meetings as required.
• Experience with mission critical, industrial, logistics, or large-scale commercial projects is a plus.
• ASIS PSP, CPP, or other relevant industry certifications are a plus.

Base Salary Range:

$90,000 - $110,000. This role is also eligible for an annual performance-based bonus. Bonus eligibility and payout are determined by role, individual performance, and company performance, and are not guaranteed.
