Job summary

LMI is seeking a business-minded, technology-focused government contracts attorney to join its Law Department in Tysons, Virginia. This role reports to the General Counsel and serves as the primary legal advisor to the CTO organization, shaping legal strategy around product development, commercialization, and strategic transactions.

This is a full-time, primarily on-site position based in Tysons. Hybrid or fully remote arrangements will be considered for exceptionally qualified candidates.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
• Bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. state or D.C.
• Eligibility to practice as in-house counsel in Virginia.

Responsibilities

• Partner with General Counsel and CTO to develop legal strategies for emerging business needs, technology investment, and commercialization.
• Advise senior leadership on legal and compliance risks and strategic business objectives.
• Lead technology lifecycle contract work: development, launch, customer contracting, and delivery.
• Advise on IP ownership, protection, and licensing, including government rights in data and software, rights assertions, and markings under FAR/DFARS.
• Address privacy, cybersecurity, supply chain, and pricing requirements; collaborate on FedRAMP and CMMC implementations.
• Draft and negotiate commercial and government technology agreements (SaaS, licenses, development, NDAs, channel/ reseller).
• Monitor developments in federal procurement of emerging tech and translate into policies and contracting practices.
• Create templates, negotiation playbooks, and training to balance speed and legal risk.
• Support federal customers’ acquisition, licensing, subcontracting, and flow-down obligations; address conflicts of interest.
