Technology and Operations - Support Engineer II

What you'll do

About the role

The Global Technology Operations Center supports Warner Bros. Discovery's digital platforms 24/7, including Max, CNN.com, BleacherReport, HBO, Cartoon Network, and others. The team handles incident management, operational monitoring, documentation, and ITSM functions.

Typical responsibilities

  • Monitor production systems for quality and performance, addressing failures or critical issues promptly.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge bases, troubleshooting guides, and procedures.
  • Collaborate to set standards and document configurations.
  • Recommend policies to support digital services.
  • Analyze problems across systems through ticket monitoring.
  • Research and recommend new technologies to improve performance.
  • Participate in educational opportunities to stay current.
  • Support scheduled upgrades and maintenance, working with business owners.
  • Support on-call duties as needed.

Minimum requirements

  • 2+ years in a media or internet tech support environment with Linux/Unix experience.
  • Support experience with open-source internet applications.
  • Expertise in server administration, networking, scripting, and configuration management.
  • Experience with cloud and container technologies like Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Nagios, DataDog, New Relic, etc.
  • Knowledge of configuration management and automation tools.
  • Ability to support on-call duties.

Preferred skills

  • Experience with programming languages like Python, PHP, Ruby, etc.
  • Experience with ServiceNow, PagerDuty, JIRA, Confluence.
  • Knowledge of video encoding and streaming technologies.

Soft skills

  • Strong communication skills in English, with the ability to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborative, innovative, quick learner, team-oriented, and customer-focused.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Education
