Job summary

CapMetro in Austin, TX is seeking a Technology Analyst III – Business Intelligence to support and advance enterprise reporting, analytics, and data warehouse capabilities. You will design, develop, and support BI solutions, including dashboards, reports, and data pipelines, ensuring data accuracy, availability, and trust across operations and finance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field; additional related experience may substitute for degree on a year-for-year basis (up to four years).
  • Five (5) years of experience in Information Technology or a related field.
  • Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience implementing and supporting enterprise data warehouse, BI reporting, dashboards, and data integrations using Microsoft tools.
  • Strong relational database knowledge and SQL programming experience.
  • Hands-on experience with ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and tools.
  • Experience troubleshooting technical and data-related issues and supporting end users in a customer-service-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, maintain, and support enterprise BI reports and dashboards that enable data-driven decision-making across the organization.
  • Partner with departmental business system analysts, data analysts, and BI users to analyze reporting needs and deliver complex BI queries, reports, dashboards, charts, scorecards, and data extracts, including spatial data.
  • Maintain and support BI tools and platforms, ensuring reliability, performance, and usability for internal and public-facing reporting.
  • Analyze and mine data from the enterprise data warehouse, developing complex SQL-based queries and validating results to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Design, develop, test, monitor, manage, and validate data warehouse and pipeline activity, including ETL processes.
  • Identify new data sources and reporting needs; extend the data warehouse through new integrations following architecture and best practices.
  • Troubleshoot data inconsistencies, refresh failures, and integration issues; communicate data limitations or delays to stakeholders.
  • Maintain technical, metadata, and user documentation; develop user guides and training materials to support adoption of BI solutions.
  • Participate in after-hours and on-call IT support rotation.
  • Provide technical leadership and ownership of BI systems, working with IT teams and vendors to ensure security and availability.

Are you passionate about turning complex data into meaningful insights that drive organizational decision‑making? Capital Metro is seeking a Technology Analyst III – Business Intelligence to support and advance our enterprise reporting, analytics, and data warehouse capabilities.

This role partners closely with business stakeholders, IT leadership, and vendors to design, develop, and support enterprise Business Intelligence (BI) solutions, including dashboards, reports, data pipelines, and integrations across multiple operational systems. You will play a key role in ensuring data accuracy, availability, and trust for operational, financial, and service delivery reporting across the agency.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

Mobility Status

As a Remote position, your primary workplace is your home or another location in the state of Texas. The incumbent is expected to work in the office as needed and must have the ability to respond to a CapMetro facility within 24 hours if business needs require. Must be in-office for socialization, strategic collaboration, supervision, oversight, and accountability as needed. Mobility status is subject to change at any time based on business needs or organizational decisions.

This position is based in Austin, Texas. Successful out-of-state candidates must relocate to the state of Texas prior to start date .
