Job summary

Labcorp in Houston, TX seeks a Technologist Trainee to support GC/MS and LC/MS operations with training provided for new grads. The role includes instrument maintenance, data review, and inventory management within a teamwork-oriented lab.

Requirements include a bachelor’s degree in chemical/biological sciences or medical technology, plus preferred ASCP/AMT certification. Overtime flexibility and strict safety adherence are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.
• ASCP or AMT certification preferred.
• Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform GC/MS and LC/MS operation, maintenance, confirmation batch loading and unloading in accordance with SOPs.
• Review and interpret confirmatory GC/MS and LC/MS chromatographic data and QC data.
• Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and reagents.
• Prepare reagents and mixtures essential to MS department.
• Follow proper chemical waste disposal procedures and MSDS protocols.
• Understand and follow quality procedures and confidentiality; follow chain of custody procedures.
• Perform and record instrument maintenance and function checks.
• Follow SOPs and lab safety policies.
• Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

Labcorp is seeking a Technologist Trainee join our team in Houston, TX.

New Grads Welcome – Full Training Provided

Work Schedule:

Thursday - Monday 7:00 am - 3:30 pm , some overtime required

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform GC/MS and LC/MS operation, maintenance, confirmation batch loading and unloading in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and supervisor guidance.
• Review and interpret confirmatory GC/MS and LC/MS chromatographic data and all associated quality control, calibration and instrument data.
• Maintain inventory of laboratory or instrument supplies and reagents. Notify appropriate personnel or supervisor of any shortages.
• Preparation of reagents and mixtures essential to MS department.
• Follow proper chemical waste disposal procedures, and handling of chemicals according to the safety manual and Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) protocols.
• Understand and follow quality procedures and protocols for security and confidentiality.
• Follow chain of custody procedures with accuracy and consistency. Verify chain of custody and specimens received.
• Perform and record instrument and equipment maintenance and function checks.
• Understand and follow Standard Operating Procedures and protocols as directed.
• Understand and comply with all laboratory and safety policies.
• Additional duties as assigned by supervisor

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology

Preferred Qualification:

• Current or prior Labcorp experience
• ASCP or AMT certification

Additional Job Standards:

• Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
