Job summary

Riverside Medical Clinic, part of Universal Health Services, is seeking an MRI Technologist to perform a range of MRI procedures for diagnosis, ensuring patient safety and comfort across all ages. The role requires independence and initiative in exam preparation and execution.

Qualifications

  • Two years of experience in a hospital or clinic as a radiologic technologist.
  • Three years MR experience preferred.
  • ARRT Certification in MR and BLS required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with all age groups and maintain safety.

Responsibilities

  • Perform MRI procedures for diagnosis with patient monitoring and safety.
  • Prepare, position, and monitor patients throughout exams.
  • Explain procedures and ensure patient comfort and cooperation.
  • Review history and prior studies to inform imaging.
  • Operate MRI equipment and document procedures accurately.
  • Maintain equipment readiness and infection control standards.
  • Collaborate with radiologists on protocol adjustments.
  • Complete required documentation and log records.
  • Assist in teaching and orientation as needed.
  • Adhere to universal precautions and quality standards.
  • Participate in continuous training and department procedures.

Summary: Performs a variety of Magnetic Resonance Imaging procedures for the diagnosis of disease; provides appropriate care and service to patients of all age specific groups. The MRI Technologist exercises independence ingenuity and initiative while performing the exam. Assume responsibility for the preparation, monitoring, care, and safety of the patient.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience: Two years of experience preferred in a Hospital or clinic environment as a registered Radiology Technologist. 3 years MR experience preferred. High School Diploma and graduation from an accredited school of MRI Education. Previous training involving all age groups, neonatal, pediatric, adult and geriatric. Previous experience on Siemens MRI equipment a plus.

Certificates, Licenses, AND Registrations:

American Registry of Radiologic ARRT Certification (MR), Technologists- ARRT (MR) required. Current AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association required.

Essential Functions:
  • 1.Review patient history; gather pertinent previous studies and films; and examine records to ensure appropriateness of ordered examination.
  • 2.Perform all routine aspect of MRI procedures including start up procedures, test scans. Programs selection, media injections, filming and exam processing.
  • 3.Effectively monitor patient safety at all times. Interview patient prior to the MRI exam. Potential problems are discussed with radiologist if necessary.
  • 4.Monitor equipment to ensure the MRI environment is safe and all systems are in proper working order. Report any potential or actual problems to the Director of Radiology in a timely manner.
  • 5.Perform tasks such as lifting, positioning, and transferring patients on/off exam table.
  • 6.Accurately explains the MRI procedure to the patients ensures patient comfort while on the scanner, assures positioning of the patient and successful completion of the exam or the radiologist protocol. Work closely with the radiologist taking suggestions, changes, additions or corrections to procedures by radiologists.
  • 7.Operates complex MRI equipment for purposes of obtaining standard and complex diagnostic MRI exams.
  • 8.Completes standard consultation form and maintains accurate records of all procedures in logbook.
  • 9.Cleans and maintains orderliness in assigned area; maintains adequate supplies. Notifies Director of Radiology of any shortage.
  • 10.Adheres to appropriate universal precautionary measures as outlined in the infection IIP program.
  • 11.May participate in formal teaching programs and in-service education classes as required.
  • 12.Performs other related duties as required such as orienting new personnel to department procedures.
