Job summary

Baptist Memorial Health Care in Columbus, MS, is seeking an American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certified or eligible Medical Technologist to join our laboratory team. The role emphasizes accurate specimen handling, quality control, and timely reporting of results to support patient care.

You will perform procedures, maintain equipment, participate in proficiency testing, and pursue lifelong learning in a collaborative hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Description Minimum Required: completed accredited MT program.
• Minimum licensure requires at least one of the following: AMT, ASCP, or NCA; ASCP licensure preferred.
• Hospital experience preferred.

• Receives, identifies, organizes, and prioritizes specimen to ensure accurate and timely test processing.
• Performs and reports requested laboratory procedures.
• Performs quality control, proficiency testing, routine instrument maintenance and inventory control.
• Evaluates positive patient identification to reduce analytical and post-analytical error and/or adverse patient outcomes.
• Assesses, evaluates and draws appropriate conclusions.
• Supports lifelong learning.
• Completes assigned goals.

Job Summary

Utilizes laboratory skills to perform and report results of clearly defined laboratory procedures assuring optimal patient outcomes. Responsible for assigned shifts and subject to overtime and call back as required. Performs other duties as assigned.
