Job summary

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) in New York City seeks a Laboratory Technologist for the Koch Rapid Results Laboratory. You will coordinate lab activities, maintain logs, prepare results for analysis, and ensure test accuracy following SOPs.

Responsibilities include supervising the shift, training staff, instrument maintenance, and upholding safety standards in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Biology, or Clinical Laboratory Sciences is required.
• Current New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist license.
• Minimum 2 years of clinical laboratory experience.
• Blood Bank experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee laboratory sections and provide leadership.
• Maintain complete, accurate, legible, neat records and logs.
• Prepare results for analysis and enter into the computer with minimal supervision.
• Ensure accuracy of tests by following SOPs and maintain equipment.
• Support safety, cleanliness, and organization of the lab area.
• Provide training and feedback on procedures; supervise shift/area.
• Manage the laboratory environment per NYS DOH, Joint Commission, OSHA, CLIA.
• Contribute to workflow efficiency and decision-making in the department.
• Assist with equipment maintenance and troubleshooting of instrumentation.
• Help set up new instrumentation and optimize protocols.

Role Overview:

Coordinates, provides leadership for, and performs with proficiency the technical and related work of all laboratory sections.

Maintain complete, accurate , legible, neat, organized, up-to-date records/logs/files.

Prepare results for analysis and enter test results into the computer, with minimal supervision.

Assure the accuracy of all tests performed by adhering to the laboratory's Standard Operating Procedures. Perform routine and advanced equipment maintenance; Create neat, accurate , well-formatted documents.

Contribute to the upkeep and safety of the laboratory and assure a clean, safe, adequately supplied work area.

Provide direction, training, and feedback on all laboratory procedures, as assigned. Oversee activities of assigned shift/area. Perform special assignments as directed.

Manage the physical environment of the laboratory following New York State DOH, Joint Commission, OSHA and CLIA regulations.

Ensure smooth workflow and demonstrate decision-making abilities in all aspects of performance in support of the Department.

Participate in equipment maintenance and troubleshooting of the Laboratory instrumentation.

Assist laboratory management to set-up new instrumentation, as well as to establish and optimize operational protocols.

Key Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree (Medical Technology, Biology, or Clinical Laboratory Sciences) required


• A current New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist License


• 2+ years of clinical laboratory experience


• Blood Bank experience preferred

Additional Information:

Shift: 7 AM-3 PM/8 AM-4 PM, rotating every 3 rd weekend 8 AM - 4 PM, including holidays
