Job summary

Roush in Allen Park, MI seeks a Technologist to assist engineers in designing, developing, testing, and repairing autonomous vehicle systems. The role provides mentorship and technical support to others and helps keep projects on schedule.

The Technologist will work closely with customers and engineers to support testing requirements and ensure smooth operations. Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, 8 years of automotive/testing experience, and strong skills in electrical

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 8 years automotive, prototype or testing experience.
  • Experience with electrical splicing, crimping, soldering and mechanical layout/packaging.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, disassemble, diagnose and repair complex electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, and high voltage EV systems.
  • Validate products through testing set-ups for electrical, electronic, mechanical, instrumentation or integrated systems.
  • Train, coach, mentor, and provide technical support to team members as SME.
  • Perform complete functional inspection and prove-out of instrumentation, electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Collaborate with customers, engineers and internal teams to identify equipment and sensor needs.
  • Schedule product testing and activities with internal and external teams.

The Technologist will assist engineers with designing, developing, testing, and repairing autonomous vehicles, orother equipment. The role will provide mentorship and technical support to other employees and workto keep operational activities on schedule and functioning smoothly. The Technologist role supportsproject growth and development. This position is in Allen Park, MI.

As a Technologist, you will be responsible for:

  • Assembling, disassembling, diagnosing,and repairing complex electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, and highand high voltage electric vehicle systems using power supplies, function generators,multimeters, oscilloscopes, and OBD (On Board Diagnostics) diagnostic interface tools
  • Validatingproducts through activities such as setting up vehicles, components, or equipment for the testing of electrical, electronic, mechanical, instrumentation or integrated systems orequipment
  • Training, coaching, mentoring, and providingtechnical support to other team members regardingmechanical and electrical design, fabrication and testing responsibilities and is available as asubject matter expert
  • Performing complete functional inspection and prove-out of instrumentation, electrical, andmechanical systems
  • Collaboratingwith customers, engineers and internal services to identify equipment and sensorsto support testing requirements
  • Schedulingproduct testing and activities with internal and external teams

To be considered as a Technologist, you will need:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 8 years of automotive, prototype or testing experience
  • Experience performing electrical splicing, crimping, soldering and mechanical layout and packaging of components and systems
  • Ability to lead and work with different cross functional teams and have excellent organization skills
  • Intermediate MS Office skills specifically with Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Ability to collect data from testing results and software and manage multiple projects.
  • Knowledge of vehicle and component instrumentation for testing
  • Good mechanical skills

A successful candidate may also have:

  • Strong electrical automotive background to include wire harness
  • National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification(s)
  • Associate degree in Automotive Technology, Engineering Technology, or related field
  • Experience in fabrication
  • Experience in high voltage, electrified vehicle systems
  • Advanced MS Office skills specifically with Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Ability to perform complete functional inspection and prove-out of instrumentation, electricaland mechanical systems
  • Knowledge of Noise, Vibration & Harshness (NVH), heat management, climate, fuel, andemissions testing
  • Ability to work overtime as needed including weekends
