Roush in Michigan is hiring an Automotive Mechanic I to work in a prototype environment, performing diagnostics, repairs and maintenance under mentorship.

Candidates should have a high school diploma; no experience required; own tools; able to read procedures; strong teamwork; overtime possible; benefits include medical/dental/vision.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Maintaining vehicle functionality by following repair orders and inspections.
• Repairing mechanical and electrical system malfunctions and replacing parts.
• Reading, interpreting, and following service procedures.
• Maintaining vehicle records by noting services and repairs.
• Keeping shop equipment operating by following procedures and performing preventive maintenance.
• Participating in daily shop organization and clean-ups.

The Automotive Mechanic I will modify cars and trucks in a prototype environment, performing a wide range of diagnostics, repairs and maintenance. The Automotive Mechanic I will be mentored and supported by team members on project work and customer interactions. This position is located in Deaborn, MI.

As anAutomotive Mechanic I, you will be responsible for:

• Maintaining vehicle functional condition by working off repair orders or leader instructions and conducting inspections
• Repairing mechanical and electrical system malfunctions and replace parts and components
• Reading, interpreting, and following service procedures
• Maintaining vehicle records by entering notes, service, and repair orders
• Keeping shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, calling for repairs
• Participatingin daily shop organization and clean-ups

To be considered as anAutomotive Mechanic I, you will need:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• No previous experience required
• Mechanical ability and ability to operate shop equipment
• Good attention to detail and organizational skills
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
• Has own tools with rolling toolbox
• Ability to read, comprehend, and execute written procedures

A successful candidate may also have:

• Certificate in Automotive Technology or related
• National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification(s)
• State Mechanic Certification(s)
• Valid driver’s license
• Knowledge of vehicle alignments, air conditioning (A/C) system repairs, tire machines and balancers
• Ability to work overtime as needed including weekends
