Basic Job Functions:
Operate Recycling and Wastewater/UPW processes according to work instructions. Assist in installing and qualifying process equipment, troubleshoot daily process/equipment issues, and identify or implement system improvements to enhance safety, efficiency, and performance.
Education/Experience:
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Candidates must meet one of the following criteria:
- One or more years of FS technical experience, or
- Experience in industrial/commercial operations or a technical setting, or
- Associate's degree in a technical discipline.
- Experience in equipment maintenance and process troubleshooting is preferred.
- Prior industrial wastewater treatment experience is preferred.
Required Skills/Competencies:
- Safety-first mindset.
- Understanding of wet chemical processes and chemical compatibilities.
- Electrical, electronic, and mechanical knowledge.
- Self-directed with minimal supervision.
- Problem-solving skills within the process.
- Good communication skills in English.
- Ability to handle administrative and technical tasks.
- Experience with industrial liquid chemicals (strong acids, bases, hydrogen peroxide) is preferred.
- Mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience.
- Forklift experience is preferred.
- Ability to operate computerized (PLC-controlled) and mechanical equipment.
- Basic computer skills (Word, Excel).
- Commitment to safe operations and escalation when needed.
- Valid driver's license.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Develop operational understanding of recycling and water treatment systems.
- Ensure processes run on target as per plan.
- Respond to process alarms with corrective actions and escalation.
- Collect and analyze process data; implement adjustments as needed.
- Troubleshoot and resolve process and equipment issues; escalate major repairs.
- Perform standard tests and minor maintenance on systems.
- Calibrate instruments per ISO instructions.
- Conduct routine sample analysis.
- Maintain accurate records using databases and spreadsheets.
- Manage hazardous waste according to procedures and respond to spills per HAZMAT standards.
- Train production staff.
- Update documentation including drawings and SOPs.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders for projects.
- Understand area processes, equipment, and support systems.
- Communicate effectively with team members and engineers.
- Escalate major repairs; maintain safety and cleanliness standards.
- Use powered industrial equipment for material handling.
- Communicate shift pass-downs effectively.
- Perform other duties as assigned; job description may change.

- Report to the Supervisor - Recycling & Wastewater.
- No direct reports.

- Stand, sit, or walk for up to 12 hours daily.
- Occasional stair climbing.
- Lift up to 51 pounds occasionally; 37 pounds frequently.
- Push/pull up to 27 pounds occasionally; 10 pounds frequently.
- Use hands for grasping, lifting, handling frequently.
- 20/40 vision, distinguish colors (red, yellow, green).
- Reach above shoulder and below waist occasionally.
- Occasional stooping, kneeling, bending.
- Wear PPE as required (steel-toed shoes, gloves, etc.).
- Ability to wear a respirator (little or no facial hair).
