Job summary

Hydromax USA is hiring a Water Technician Trainee in San Antonio, TX. The three-month program will train you in Valve Exercise, Fire Hydrant Maintenance, or Blowoff Maintenance, with clear pathways to advance to Water Technician 1.

You will work outdoors across busy streets and residential areas, collect data, follow safety protocols, and join a team dedicated to safe, reliable water infrastructure and utility solutions.

Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
  • Able to pass a comprehensive background check and pre-employment drug screening.
  • DOT Medical Certification as required by project locations.
  • Physically capable of field work, including walking on varied terrain, bending, squatting, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Willing to travel as needed, including weekends and potential night shifts.
  • Proficient with mobile devices and field data collection apps.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately collect GPS coordinates for all assigned assets.
  • Safely operate, maintain, and clean equipment.
  • Gather precise data from each inspection point.
  • Maintain consistent productivity and discipline throughout the workday.
  • Achieve and uphold a driving score per company policy.
  • Properly use PPE and follow work zone safety protocols daily.
  • Perform repairs on hydrants and valve nuts as needed.
  • Communicate openly with support staff and field managers daily.

Once you meet expectations, you'll have the opportunity to advance to Water Technician 1.Regional & Work Environment ConsiderationsThis role involves working along busy streets, highways, and residential roads, often in high-traffic areas. Crews must follow strict safety protocols and be aware of roadside hazards. Some sites may include embankments, uneven terrain, or wet conditions. Expect outdoor challenges and changing weather conditions. This means adapting to high heat, humidity, sudden storms, and cold temperatures.Primary ResponsibilitiesAccurately collect GPS coordinates for all assigned assets.Safely operate, maintain, and clean all equipment.Gather precise data from each inspection point.Maintain consistent productivity and discipline throughout the workday.Achieve and uphold a driving score of A-90 or above, in accordance with the company’s driver performance system.Properly use PPE and follow work zone safety protocols on a daily basis.Paint, scrape, and clean fire hydrants to meet project standards.Perform repairs on fire hydrants and water main valve operating nuts.Maintain open and effective communication with support staff and field managers each day.Job Qualifications and SkillsPossess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.Able to pass a comprehensive background check and pre-employment drug screening (required as a condition of employment).Eligible to obtain and maintain a valid DOT Medical Certification, as required by specific project locations.Physically capable of performing field work, including walking over varied terrain, entering confined spaces, bending, squatting, and lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds for extended periods.Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and in physically demanding environments.Willing and able to travel as needed based on project requirements, including weekends and occasional night shifts.Proficient in using mobile devices and field data collection applications.Demonstrated ability to make sound, safety-conscious decisions that may impact the public.Capable of operating and maneuvering a 4x4 2500 series truck in off-road or challenging conditions.Self-motivated, dependable, and committed to high ethical work standards.Employees may be assigned additional duties, responsibilities, projects, work locations, or tasks based on operational and business needs.Pay:$18-$21 per hour depending on experienceBenefits:Weekly payCompany paid smartphone and laptopCompany paid uniform, Safety boot voucher, and PPEOpportunities for paid overtimePaid training with no experience requiredMedical, dental, vision insurance and moreCompany paid life insurance policyPaid holidays and personal paid time off (PTO)401K with company match after 6 monthsCareer advancement opportunitiesWork Schedule:Monday – Friday with occasional weekend work, 7:00am – 5:00pmWorking at Hydromax USA:At Hydromax USA, we’re committed to a culture that embraces safety and strives for excellence.
