Job summary

Lee County Utilities in Florida seeks a Senior Electrical Technician to maintain and troubleshoot electrical systems in our water and wastewater facilities. You will install, test, and repair motors, switchgear, and control panels while interpreting schematics and ensuring safety compliance.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years in industrial electrical work, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to work both in the field and with diverse teams. On-call rotations and varying hours are required.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED (or equivalent experience).
• Four+ years of related electrical experience, preferably in industrial/utilities.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record.
• Ability to read and understand electrical drawings and schematics.
• Experience using test equipment and hand/power tools.
• Ability to work safely, independently, and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Perform journeyman-level electrical maintenance, repairs, and installations.
• Troubleshoot equipment, identify root causes, and implement safe corrections.
• Install and wire new electrical equipment from start to finish.
• Inspect, test, and maintain motors, control panels, switchgear, pumps and components.
• Review engineering plans, blueprints, and specifications.
• Use test equipment, power tools, and diagnostic instruments safely.
• Work independently in the field and with operators, mechanics, engineers, and supervisors.
• Maintain detailed records and reports.
• Follow national/local electrical codes and safety practices.
• Be available for on-call rotations and emergency response.

In this critical role, you’ll help keep the electrical systems that power our water and wastewater treatment plants running safely, reliably, and efficiently. Your work directly supports public health, environmental protection, and the essential services our community depends on every day.

What You Will Do:

• Perform journeyman-level electrical maintenance, repairs, and installations

What We’re Looking For:

• High school diploma or GED (or equivalent experience)
• Four or more years of related electrical experience, preferably in industrial or utility environments
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Working knowledge of national and local electrical codes
• Ability to read and understand electrical drawings, blueprints, and control schematics
• Experience using test equipment and hand/power tools
• Ability to work safely, independently, and as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in water or wastewater treatment facilities
• Industrial electrical experience with motors, switchgear, variable frequency drives, motor control centers and SCADA systems
• Ability to diagnose complex electrical issues with minimal supervision
• Knowledge of electrical systems used in treatment plants or similar industrial facilities
