Job summary

Baptist Memorial Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to perform and report defined laboratory procedures with accurate specimen handling and timely test results. The role requires adherence to safety and regulatory standards across shifts, with overtime and callbacks as needed.

The ideal candidate will hold an AAS in MLT or military Laboratory Specialist training, possess basic computer skills, and aim to obtain national certification within six months of hire.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent military training.
• National certification must be obtained within six months of hire.
• Clinical laboratory experience preferred.
• Basic computer literacy required.

Responsibilities

• Receives, identifies, organizes, and prioritizes specimens to ensure accurate and timely test processing.
• Performs and reports requested laboratory procedures.
• Performs quality control, proficiency testing and routine instrument maintenance and inventory control and document as required.
• Evaluates positive patient identification to reduce analytical and post-analytical error and/or adverse patient outcomes.
• Assesses, evaluates and draws appropriate conclusions.
• Follows regulatory requirements, competency requirements and maintains safe laboratory practice.
• Completes assigned goals.
