Berry Material Handling in Salina, KS is seeking an experienced forklift technician/mechanic for field service. This is not a shop position and includes in-house, paid training.

We require strong hydraulic and electrical troubleshooting skills. The role involves repairing equipment at customer sites in Salina and surrounding areas with opportunities for advancement.

Qualifications

• Technical school or equivalent experience in mechanical repairs is preferred, but not required.
• Valid driver's license; clean MVR.
• Electric forklift experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Repair machines and components to high quality standards.
• Recondition and repair equipment and components.
• Plan methods and sequence of repairs.
• Pre-order parts and materials for repairs.
• Perform repairs safely and effectively.
• Ensure repairs meet standards of appearance.
• Maintain work area in a clean and safe condition.
• Maintain records of time, parts, supplies, and outside purchases.
• Report daily field records when not returning to the shop.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles.
• Wear PPE and maintain professional appearance.
• Communicate with customers and coworkers with respect and integrity.
• Inspect to determine cause of failure per established guidelines.

This is a Field Service Mechanic position. We are seeking technicians in the Salina and surrounding areas. This is not a shop position.

Hourly Paid Position - No More Flat Rate!

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the effective repair of machine components in the shop, at high levels of quality
• Recondition and repair equipment and components
• Plan methods and sequence of performing repairs assigned
• Pre-order all parts and materials required to perform assigned repairs
• Effect the repairs in a safe and effective manner
• Ensure all repairs complete as assigned and the cosmetic appearance are up to standards
• Maintain the work area in a clean and safe condition
• Maintain good working records for time, parts, supplies, and outside purchases in repairs
• Ensure all records are legible and in compliance with established methods
• Report all record keeping daily from the field, even when not returning daily to the company
• Maintain shop tools, equipment and vehicles
• Maintain personal appearance in a professional and neat condition. Wear all personal protective equipment, as required; and urges others to do so.
• All communications with customers and co-workers are conducted in a manner reflecting respect and integrity
• Perform inspections required to determine cause of failure is done following established guidelines and are completed with the cause identified

Qualifications

• Strong potential to develop good mechanical skills, good communication skills, and safe work habits
• Electric forklift experience a plus
• Be able to work independent of direct supervision
• Contribution to spirit of teamwork and cooperation through the branch location, specifically with parts personnel and other service technicians
• A technical school or equivalent experience in mechanical repairs is preferred, but not required
• Valid driver's license; clean MVR

Physical Requirements

• Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate construction equipment.
• Occasionally lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling 50-100 pounds and/or frequently lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling 20-50 pounds and/or continuous lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling 10-20 pounds
• Regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, grasp or pull and lift objects. Occasionally required to sit, climb, and balance, kneel, stoop, couch, and crawl
• Consistently exposed to outside weather conditions, fumes, and loud noise.
