Basic Job Functions:
- Assist in the installation and qualification of systems, troubleshoot day-to-day manufacturing issues, and identify or implement system improvements to achieve throughput, yield, and product performance goals.
Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required, with one of the following:
- Associates degree in a technical discipline
- 2+ years of machine or mechanic experience as a primary job function
- One year of technical experience at First Solar
- Six months’ experience as Temporary Manufacturing Engineering Technician at First Solar
Required Skills/Competencies:
- Safety-first mindset
- General electrical, electronic, and mechanical knowledge
- Self-directed with minimal supervision
- Good communication skills in English
- Troubleshooting skills on the manufacturing line
- Ability to handle administrative and technical tasks
Essential Responsibilities:
- Solve production, equipment, and process problems daily
- Identify and implement yield and performance improvements
- Develop causes for yield excursions
- Set up and maintain gauges
- Ensure processes run according to the Process Control Plan
- Respond to SPC alarms and bring processes into control
- Conduct process experiments, analyze data, and report results
- Collect data on tool and product performance
- Train production associates
- Develop and update documentation, SOPs, and process specs
- Coordinate with internal teams and suppliers on projects
- Understand area processes, equipment, and support systems
- Maintain effective communication with team members
- Distribute non-conforming products per criteria (NCP)
- Follow safety procedures and housekeeping standards
- Manage waste disposal and hazardous materials
- Perform other duties as assigned

- This position has no direct reports.

- 0% - 5%, as needed for training or other purposes

- Climb stairs frequently
- Lift up to 58 pounds occasionally; 37 pounds frequently
- Push/pull up to 27 pounds occasionally; 10 pounds frequently
- Use hands repetitively for grasping, lifting, handling
- 20/40 vision with color discrimination
- Reach above shoulder and below waist occasionally
- Stooping, kneeling, bending occasionally
- Wear PPE as required (steel-toed shoes, gloves, etc.)
