Basic Job Functions:

Assist in the installation and qualification of systems, troubleshoot day-to-day manufacturing issues, identify, and/or implement system improvements that contribute to the achievement of throughput, yield, and product performance goals.

Education/Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED required and must meet one of the following criteria to qualify:
  • Associates degree in technical discipline
  • 2+ years of machine or mechanic experience as a primary job function
  • One year First Solar technical experience
  • Six months’ experience as Temporary Manufacturing Engineering Technician at First Solar
Required Skills/Competencies:
  • Safety first mindset
  • General electrical/electronic and mechanical knowledge
  • Self-directed, ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Good written and oral communication skills in English
  • Able to troubleshoot and solve problems on the manufacturing line
  • Ability to handle administrative and technical tasks
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Solve production, equipment, and process problems daily
  • Identify and implement yield and product performance improvements
  • Develop methods to analyze causes of yield excursions
  • Set up and maintain gauges
  • Ensure processes operate as defined by the Process Control Plan
  • Respond to SPC alarms and bring processes back into control
  • Conduct process experiments, analyze data, and report results
  • Collect and analyze data on tool and product performance
  • Train production staff
  • Update internal documentation including drawings and SOPs
  • Coordinate with internal teams and suppliers on projects
  • Understand area processes, equipment, and support systems
  • Maintain effective communication with team members
  • Distribute non-conforming products according to criteria
  • Follow safety procedures and maintain cleanliness standards
  • Manage waste disposal and hazardous materials properly
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Reporting Relationships:
  • This position does not have direct reports
Travel:
  • 0% - 5%, as needed for training or other requirements
Estimated Salary Range:
  • $18.89 - $26.44 per hour
Physical Requirements:

Will sit, stand, or walk for up to 12 hours; climb stairs; lift up to 58 pounds; perform repetitive hand movements; have 20/40 vision; reach, stoop, kneel; wear PPE; and follow safety standards.

All candidates must meet education and experience requirements, pass background checks, and any other necessary tests.
