Job description

Overview

The Jewish Community Campus, located in Overland Park, is a 250,000 square foot facility on 25-acre grounds. It houses nine Jewish agencies, including the Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City. The campus features a preschool, K-12 private school, 500-seat theater, fitness center, indoor and outdoor pools, commercial kitchens, private offices, and public meeting spaces. The Maintenance + Grounds Technician performs light plumbing, electrical, carpentry, interior maintenance, as well as exterior cleaning and upkeep.

Schedule

  • Full-Time
  • Friday - Tuesday 10am-6:30pm

Essential Functions

  • Perform outdoor grounds maintenance such as trash pickup, landscaping, snow removal, salt application, sweeping grounds, parking lots, walks, curbs, and dragging ball fields.
  • Conduct light plumbing maintenance including sinks, showers, toilets, and urinals.
  • Maintain lighting and electrical systems, including changing ballasts, bulbs, and outlets.
  • Perform carpentry, drywall work, mudding, painting, and wallpapering.
  • Install and maintain drop ceiling tiles.
  • Assist with room setups and teardowns, including tables and chairs, and perform general clean-up.
  • Maintain and clean equipment in commercial kitchens.
  • Perform interior trash pickup and other cleaning tasks as needed.
  • Assist the Building Engineer as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three years of experience in commercial building maintenance, including proficiency in light plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, painting, and cleaning. Pool maintenance experience is a plus.
  • Able to lift 50 pounds and carry items over 90 feet.
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and handle responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and customers.
  • Ability to read and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Proficiency with workplace technology such as email, internet, and software.
  • Flexibility to work scheduled hours and overtime when required.
