Job summary

Modern Aviation in Groton, CT is seeking a dedicated Line Service Technician to provide safe, efficient aircraft ground handling and exceptional service to flight crews and passengers. You will fuel, tow, park, de-ice, and position aircraft, operate ramp equipment, and uphold safety standards while supporting operations across varied shifts, including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Previous customer service experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of aircraft types and aircraft servicing practices preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform aircraft fueling, towing, parking, de-icing, placement, and basic cleaning.
  • Operate a wide range of ground support equipment safely and in accordance with procedures.
  • Ensure timely delivery of all required ground services for arriving/departing aircraft.
  • Maintain ramp awareness and manage aircraft movement, hazards, and weather conditions.
  • Deliver Modern Aviation’s exceptional service to passengers and flight crews.
  • Communicate clearly during aircraft movements and active operations.

The Line Service Technician (LST) is responsible for providing safe, efficient aircraft ground handling services while delivering exceptional customer service to aircraft owners, guests, and flight crews. This role is hands on and operations focused, supporting all arriving and departing aircraft with professionalism, urgency, and a positive attitude.Aircraft Ground Handling & Ramp OperationsPerform aircraft fueling, towing, parking, de icing, placement, and basic cleaningOperate a wide range of aircraft ground support equipment in accordance with procedures and safety standardsEnsure timely and accurate delivery of all required ground support services for arriving and departing aircraftMaintain continuous ramp awareness, including aircraft movement, FOD prevention, and changing weather conditionsPerform duties with attention to detail and minimal supervisionSafety & CompliancePromote safe operations by protecting customers, employees, aircraft, and equipment from harmFollow all company policies, standard operating procedures, and safety regulationsUse sound judgment when making timely decisions during active operationsSupport a safety focused culture by maintaining awareness of ramp hazards and operational risksCustomer Service & ExperienceDeliver Modern Aviation’s exceptional service by assisting passengers and flight crews with professionalism and careGreet customers with high energy, a positive attitude, and a willingness to exceed expectationsAnticipate customer needs, offer additional services, and represent Modern Aviation in a professional mannerMaintain a positive image with customers, vendors, partners, and airport stakeholdersCommunication & TeamworkWork effectively with other Line Service Technicians, Customer Service staff, and Operations leadershipCommunicate clearly during aircraft movements and active operationsPerform additional duties as assigned by Shift Leads or Line ManagementPhysical Requirements & ScheduleAbility to stand or walk for extended periods of timePhysical capability to perform frequent bending, reaching, and manual tasksMust meet physical demands associated with ramp operationsAble to work variable shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as requiredHigh school diploma or equivalentMust be at least 18 years of ageMust have open availability as work schedules vary, including evenings and weekendsValid driver’s licenseStrong verbal and written communication skillsStrong mathematical aptitudePrevious customer service experience preferredBasic knowledge of aircraft types and aircraft servicing practices preferredWorking conditions and physical demands for this roleWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
