Job summary

GRDA is seeking a Technician Lead-HVAC for the Grand River Energy Center in Oklahoma. The role leads a multidisciplinary maintenance team, overseeing preventative, predictive, and reactive HVAC work to ensure reliable power generation and safety.

The position requires advanced knowledge of HVAC and power plant systems, strong analytical and written communication skills, and experience with Maximo, TK Pro, Excel, Access, and Word.

Qualifications

  • Two-year technical degree or equivalent in a related field.
  • Oklahoma driver’s license or ability to convert within 30 days if moving from another state.

Responsibilities

Our EMPLOYEES are our greatest asset in meeting our mission to be an Oklahoma Agency of Excellence.GRDA is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Technician Lead-HVAC at its Grand River Energy Center (GREC), located just thirty (30) miles east of Tulsa, Oklahoma. The Technician Lead-HVAC provides leadership, direction, and technical expertise to a multidisciplinary maintenance team responsible for power generation facilities.Key objectives: As part of a multidisciplinary maintenance team, provides HVAC support for the execution of preventative, predictive, and reactive maintenance of power-generation assets. Coordinates and executes scheduled maintenance activities using both internal and external resources to ensure reliable, efficient, and safe operation of assigned equipment. Such equipment will include, but not limited to building HVAC units of various sizes, chiller units for combustion turbine, plant ventilation fans/louvers/heaters, plant chiller systems, plant air handlers.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Provide a safe working environment through procedural compliance, training, and safe work plans to safeguard personnel and plant equipment.Use prudent leadership to achieve high plant availability and minimize potential for catastrophic loss.Installs adjusts, inspects, services, and repairs a variety of electrical/mechanical HVAC equipment utilized in an electrical power station.Perform postmortem analysis for forced outages and equipment failures in assigned areas.Reviews, initiates, and maintains standardized maintenance procedures for assigned systems.Monitor inventory while ensuring availability of adequate and correct spare parts for critical assets.Assist in the development, implementation, and administration of predictive and preventative maintenance strategies for power generation systems.Recommends, plans, and assists with the execution of unit outages. Ensures that work performed progresses as scheduled to meet performance and cost objectives.Perform and/or coordinate assessments and inspections to execute cost effective preventive maintenance strategies, design improvements, and major equipment component replacement.Using IBM Maximo, generates purchase requisitions, creates, and schedules work orders.Odd shifts and after-hours work may be required under system emergency.Creates, organizes, and maintains records for assigned oversight areas of the department(s).Other duties as assigned.EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:The preferred applicant will have a minimum of eight (8) years of experience performing skilled maintenance as an HVAC Technician at a generation or large industrial facility and completion of a two-year course of study in a technical discipline at a recognized trade, technical or vocational school, or accredited college, or a combination of education/experience.Additional preference given for training and direct experience with advanced class combustion turbine chiller systems.Valid Oklahoma driver’s license, or the ability to convert within 30 days for those with an out of state driver’s license that are an Oklahoma resident.SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & ABILITIES REQUIRED:Excellent knowledge of power generation systems maintenance and repair.Functional competency with personal computers; experience with Maximo, TK Pro, Excel, Access, and Word.Must be capable of methodical analysis of complex technical problems.Must possess and demonstrate excellent writing and composition skills.Ability to read, interpret and carry out complex written and oral instructions.Highly motivated with a willingness to work extended hours, when necessary, this includes scheduled overtime and emergency callouts to support the plant.Must be able to complete work assignments with little or no supervisionPHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:Must be able to walk, climb stairs, crawl, work from ladders and elevated platforms.Must not have a fear of heights, confined spaces, or working around high voltage equipment.Ability to lift, move, and carry weights of up to 50 lb. on an irregular basis.Must possess mental, visual, and auditory acuity for attention to visual and auditory detail.Manual dexterity is required for operation of test equipment, small tools, and the installation, adjustment, and repair of control devices.ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS & SAFETY CONCERNS:Work locations range from an office environment to outdoors and/or indoors in a high noise/high temperature environment with work possible in confined spaces.Emergency repair work may be required during system upsets.JOB LOCATION:Work is performed at the Grand River Energy Center in Chouteau, Oklahoma.
