Job summary

Denver Public Schools is seeking a drain cleaning technician to service district plumbing systems, including sanitary and storm drains, building drains, and roof drains. You will receive work orders, prioritize tasks, and coordinate with on-site staff while ensuring safety protocols for students and staff.

The role requires 4+ years of related experience and a valid Colorado driver's license. On-call 24/7 emergency support is required, with snow removal duties as needed and a commitment to

Qualifications

  • Two to ten years related experience and training; for L2, four years of experience.
  • Must have and maintain a valid Colorado Driver's License.

Responsibilities

  • Receives work orders, reviews, prioritizes and develops plan for drain cleaning related issues and requests.
  • Communicates and coordinates with staff at work site, taking into consideration safety concerns of self and others (e.g., students, employees and utilization of appropriate safety equipment and procedures).
  • Prepares and cleans up job site (e.g., erecting scaffolding), taking into consideration safety concerns of self and others (e.g., students, employees), and disposes of waste and flammable materials.
  • Cleans out plumbing fixtures and drain lines including: water closets, urinals, lavatories, kitchen sinks, laundry sinks, laboratory sinks, drinking fountains, shower drains, floor drains, wash fountains, emergency eye wash fountains, floor sinks, grease trap outlets, grease trap piping, sewer mains, building drains, manholes, area drains, catch basins, storm drains, roof drains, roof leaders and storm sewer mains.
  • Available for snow removal efforts on a 24 hour on-call basis
  • Responds to emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

Performs drain cleaning work on all district plumbing systems sanitary sewers, sanitary building drains, sanitary branches, storm sewers, storm drains, roof drains and roof leaders.

What You’ll Need
  • Two to ten years related experience and training, minimum as follows: L2: Four years of experience
  • Must have and maintain a valid Colorado Driver's License. Must meet District insurability standards.
