Job summary

Microchip Technology Inc. in Gresham, Oregon is seeking a Technician IV-Facilities (HVAC) to supportFab 4 operations on a modified front-night schedule. You will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot HVAC systems, and respond to alarms to maintain cleanroom quality.

The role requires strong communication with engineering and management, plus the ability to work with limited direction and cover shifts as needed. This is a safety-sensitive position within a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of HVAC maintenance operations in a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of HVAC industrial plant systems and related equipment.
• Experience with boilers, chillers, compressors, scrubbers and exhaust systems.
• Familiarity with semiconductor clean room environments.
• Proficient with routine maintenance logs, PMs and system monitoring.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and building control systems.

Responsibilities

Microchip has an opportunity for a Technician IV-Facilities (HVAC) in the Site Services department at Fab 4 in Gresham, Oregon on a modified front night compressed work week shift (6:00 AM - 6:15 PM, Tue, Wed, Thu, every other Mon). This position will support semiconductor manufacturing at Fab 4.

Essential Functions

• Ensure operation of facilities HVAC and scrubber systems, buildings and equipment within cleanroom quality parameters and environmental discharge permit limitations.
• Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of HVAC systems.
• Respond to site HVAC system alarms.
• Provide support with HVAC configuration and maintenance and maintain associated written documents and reports.
• Provide timely response and follow-up to all correspondence, maintaining open lines of communication with team members, engineering and management.
• Assist supervisors in identifying training requirements and safety procedures in assigned areas.
• Perform additional duties as assigned, assisting other trades as required.

Requirements/Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in HVAC maintenance operations in manufacturing environment.
• High school graduate or GED equivalent.
• Computer knowledge including Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of HVAC industrial plant systems.
• Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of boilers, chillers, compressed air, heating/cooling water systems, steam, condensate, scrubbed exhaust, process vacuum, air handling equipment and exhaust systems.
• Familiarity with Semiconductor clean room.
• 2-year technical degree or certification in HVAC.

Special Requirements

• Participation as an active member of the Fab 4 ERT (Emergency Response Team).
• Ability to meet the requirements of the ERT physical.
• Must pass a physical, fit test and medical clearance for the usage of a tight‑fitting respirator (SCBA full face mask level).
• Must maintain physical requirements for wearing SCBA full face mask level.
• Must be able and willing to travel for training purposes.
• Critical Physical Requirements – able to lift, push, pull approx. 50 lbs; carry 50 lbs; sit 5%; stand 60%; walk 35%; must be able to perform activities that include climbing, bending at waist, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, crawling, handling, feeling, hearing, talking, seeing.
• Work environment could include slippery surfaces, noise or vibrations, mechanical hazards, electrical hazards, fumes or odors, dust or gases.
• Must have manual dexterity, hearing and visual acuity (color distinction, peripheral vision and depth perception).
• This is a Safety Sensitive position.
