Microchip Technology Inc. is seeking a Technician IV-Equipment (Gas and Abatement) at Fab 4 in Gresham, Oregon.

The role supports front day compressed shift schedule and requires hands-on maintenance of gas and abatement systems. You will troubleshoot, repair, and install equipment, handle hazardous materials, and collaborate across teams while adhering to safety requirements and Emergency Response Team protocols.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Work with equipment containing electrical, mechanical, liquid, and gas hazards.

Job Description

Microchip has an opportunity for a Technician IV-Equipment (Gas and Abatement) at our Fab 4 facility in Gresham, Oregon. This position will support Gas and Abatement on the front day compressed work week shift (Sun, Mon, Tues, every other Wed 6:00 AM to 6:15 PM). Training will occur on a modified shift – primarily the back day shift – before transitioning to the front day shift.

Essential Functions

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain semiconductor sub fab systems including:
  • Specialty and Bulk Gas System Equipment and Distribution Manifolds
  • Abatement Equipment
  • Vacuum Dry Pumps
• Material handling responsibilities including:
  • Operating forklifts
  • Performing cylinder gas changeouts
  • Segregating/disposing of hazardous wastes
  • Handling vacuum dry pumps
• Participate in equipment installation and startup duties including equipment layout, qualification, and commissioning.
• Demonstrate excellent communication skills by troubleshooting system issues across different teams at Microchip.
• Work with systems containing electrical, mechanical, liquid and gas hazards.
• Self-motivation and taking ownership of work performed with a positive approach are key competencies.
• Maintain an attitude of willingness to learn, embrace continuous improvement and grow in a team environment.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements/Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• AA degree in a technical field. Or equivalent military training or technical degree.
• 5+ years of experience in Gas & Abatement
• Electronic and mechanical aptitude. Passion for electronic and mechanical tinkering.
• Ability to apply theoretical/textbook concepts in practical, real-world applications.
• Creative thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Must be competent in MS Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Strong organization, documentation, and writing skills.
• A successful candidate must be self-directed, self-motivated and work in a highly team-oriented environment with minimal supervision.

Special Requirements

• Participation as an active member of the Fab 4 ERT (Emergency Response Team).
• Ability to meet the requirements of the ERT physical.
• Must pass a physical, fit test and medical clearance for the usage of a tight-fitting respirator (SCBA full face mask level)
• Must maintain physical requirements for wearing SCBA full face mask level
• Must be able and willing to travel for training purposes.
