Job summary

Longshot Space Technologies is seeking motivated students for a Test & Manufacturing Technician internship at our Alameda, CA site. You will work closely with a mentor and teammates to apply knowledge and grow skills on projects with real impact.

The internship is 9 weeks, part-time, non-exempt, paying $20-25 per hour. You will gain hands-on exposure to fabrication, assembly, machining, and hardware builds while collaborating with engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a manufacturing, machining, welding, electronics, mechatronics, or related program, or pursuing engineering/physics/math.
• 3+ months of hands-on fabrication, assembly, machining, or hardware builds.
• Able to read technical drawings, blueprints, or assembly instructions.
• Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, or basic machine shop equipment is a plus.
• Works well in a collaborative team with technicians, engineers and managers.
• Adaptable to a dynamic professional setting with changing requirements.

Job description

We are seeking motivated students to join us for Test & Manufacturing Technician. As an intern, you will work closely with your mentor and other employees who will help you apply your knowledge and grow your skills on projects that have a significant impact.

Internships are based at our Alameda, CA site and support manufacturing operations across our Design, Test, Electrical, Software, and Mechanical engineering teams, giving you exposure to how hardware moves from concept to build.

• Part-time Internship, Non-Exempt
• Length of Internship: 9 weeks
• Compensation: $20-25/hour
• Location: Alameda, CA

Preferred Experience & Qualifications

• Enrolled in a manufacturing, machining, welding, electronics, mechatronics, or related technical/vocational program, or pursuing a degree in engineering, physics, math, or a related discipline.
• 3+ months of hands‑on experience with fabrication, assembly, machining, or hardware builds (coursework, internships, personal projects, or team projects are applicable).
• Comfortable reading technical drawings, blueprints, or assembly instructions.
• Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and/or basic machine shop equipment is a plus.
• Ability to work well in an integrated collaborative team environment, including frequent interactions with technicians, engineers, and managers.
• Ability to work effectively in a dynamic professional setting with changing needs and requirements.
