Job summary

Kenworth Louisiana is seeking a Service Technician Intern to gain hands-on experience with OEM protocols and dealership standards. You will learn under experienced technicians, diagnose malfunctions, and support repairs while balancing school commitments.

You will work closely with parts and service teams, maintain tools, and complete training to prepare for a future career as a technician. This role emphasizes safety, practical skills, and adherence to warranty processes.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in an accredited post-secondary technical school.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Must be able to work while maintaining mandatory school hours.
• Must be building a workable toolbox.

Responsibilities

• Assist in performing work as outlined on repair orders with efficiency and accuracy, following dealership and factory standards.
• Observe and assist in diagnosing the cause of malfunctions and performing repairs according to OEM guidelines.
• Communicate with the parts department to obtain necessary parts.
• Save and tag parts for warranty purposes or at the customer's request.
• Examine assigned vehicles to determine if additional safety or service work is needed or recommended.
• Communicate with the service advisor immediately if additional work is needed or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
• Document all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
• Report machinery defects or malfunctions to the supervisor.
• Maintain and be accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals.
• Operate all tools and equipment safely.
• Attend and complete all assigned company training.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Environment:

This position is often exposed to the elements and moving machinery and equipment. It is also often
exposed to grease, electrical currents, dust, dirt, chemicals and other environmental factors.
