Job summary

Nutrien is seeking an Instrumentation & Electrical Technician at the Aurora facility. You will maintain, diagnose, and repair electrical and instrumentation systems across the chemical processing and mining area, ensuring peak performance and safety.

The role requires working at elevations, following PPE protocols, and coordinating with the supervisor. A high school diploma and electrician training are preferred, with a background check and potential pre-employment testing required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
  • Completion of an Electrician apprenticeship or vocational training is required.
  • Experience as Electrician in industrial/commercial systems required.
  • Ability to read electrical drawings/blueprints and use hand tools.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, replace, and diagnose instrument/electrical components in the plant area.
  • Monitor equipment to ensure operational capacity.
  • Supervise daily activities of support personnel and ensure safe, compliant maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, modify, and maintain electrical/electronic/control systems.
  • Work at heights and in open spaces while wearing PPE.

This position reports directly to the Department Supervisor.

What you will do:

  • Maintain, replace, and diagnose all instrument/electrical components in and around the Nutrien Chemical Processing and Mining area
  • Monitor equipment systems to ensure components are fully operational and working to optimal capacity
  • Oversee and direct the support personnel’s daily activities, manage Process Safety Managementreporting, conduct periodic inspections, maintainand operate equipment and systems in a safe and environmentally responsible manner to process the highest quality products
  • Troubleshoot, repair, modify, install, operate, and perform routinepreventiveand predictive maintenance on electrical, electronic, pneumatic, digital, mechanical devices and control systems
  • Act to prevent or avoid production losses and secure a safe work environment
  • Direct, coordinate, and utilize the abilities and skills of other persons in the trade group, other assisting trade groups, trainees, and helpers to maintain all instrumentation and electrical equipment to a high level of reliability at minimum cost
  • Required to work at high elevations and in open spaces such as platforms and/or catwalks
  • Wear required, company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)--i.e., uniforms, steel-toed boots, safety glasses, emergency breathing apparatus

What you will bring:

  • A High School Diploma or Equivalent is preferred
  • Relevant vocational training and/or successful completion of an apprenticeship as an Electrician
  • Proven experience as an Electrician in industrial and/or commercial electrical systems
  • Demonstrable ability to use electrical and hand tools (i.e., wire strippers, voltmeter, etc.) and electrical drawings and blueprints
  • Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and legal regulations/guidelines
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) testing is required for all hourly applicants of Nutrien-Aurora and must be uploaded along with your resume during the application process to be considered for employment with Nutrien-Aurora Applicants must complete this test and meet a minimum of4 in Graphic Literacy, 5 on Applied Mathematics and5 onWorkplace Documentsin order to be considered eligible for employment with Nutrien
  • Ability to work well with others on the job by displaying a good attitude and leadership skills
  • Systematic procedural discipline, following a pre-determined course of action for doing things, guiding oneself with little or no supervisionand developing a team atmosphere to get things done
  • High initiative and willingness to take on responsibilities, and challenges without being asked
  • Adaptability, flexibility, and open to change in a varying work environment as is common in an Instrument/Electrical Maintenance Department
  • May be required to be clean-shaven for safety reasons
