Smartsearchonline is seeking an experienced Technician III, Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) in Long Beach, CA. The role is hands-on and leads day-to-day EHS activities across production, maintenance, and facility environments.

Responsibilities include managing hazardous waste programs, environmental monitoring, electrical safety for 480V systems, lockout/tagout, crane safety, incident investigations, and training. 4–7+ years of EHS experience and relevant certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

  • 4 to 7+ years of EHS or related technical experience in aerospace, industrial manufacturing, or chemical handling.
  • Strong knowledge of hazardous waste management (RCRA), chemical safety, and environmental compliance.
  • Working knowledge of high-voltage electrical safety; NFPA 70E experience preferred.
  • Experience supporting cranes, hoists, aerial lifts, and powered industrial vehicles.
  • Ability to interpret safety regulations, technical documents, and applicable codes.
  • Strong documentation, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to independently identify hazards and lead daily EHS activities.

  • Oversee cranes, hoists, aerial lifts, and powered industrial equipment safety.
  • Track equipment certifications and schedule required inspections.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA, and relevant standards.
  • Assist with permits, inventories, submissions, and reporting.
  • Participate in incident investigations, root cause analysis, corrective actions.
  • Support emergency response: spills, evacuations, first aid, electrical incidents.
  • Respond to workplace medical incidents within training scope; maintain first aid/AED gear.
  • Maintain EHS records, permits, SDS files, inspection logs, and docs.
  • Conduct or coordinate EHS training for employees and contractors.
  • Partner with operations, maintenance, engineering, and quality to identify hazards and actions.

We are seeking an experienced Technician III, Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) to support a highly technical advanced manufacturing operation in Long Beach, CA. This is a hands-on, lead-level position supporting day-to-day EHS activities across production, mechanical, and facility environments. The ideal candidate brings strong experience with hazardous waste and chemical safety, industrial equipment safety, regulatory compliance, and high-voltage electrical environments.

What You’ll Do:
  • Manage hazardous metal and chemical waste programs, including labeling, storage, accumulation areas, inspections, manifesting, and vendor coordination.
  • Support environmental monitoring related to air, water, waste streams, and sustainability programs.
  • Support electrical safety programs involving 480V systems and high-voltage equipment.
  • Verify lockout/tagout procedures and support energized work permitting.

The position may require lifting up to 40 lbs.

Pay:$46.00 to $58.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
