Motive Workforce is seeking an experienced Technician III, Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) to support a highly technical advanced manufacturing operation in Long Beach, CA. This hands-on, lead-level role covers day-to-day EHS activities across production, mechanical, and facility environments.

The ideal candidate has strong experience with hazardous waste and chemical safety, industrial equipment safety, regulatory compliance, and high‑voltage electrical environments.

Qualifications

• Experience with hazardous waste and chemical safety handling.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA/EPA/DOT regulations and NFPA standards.
• Skilled in incident investigations and root-cause analysis.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day EHS activities across production, mechanical and facility environments.
• Manage hazardous waste programs, labeling, storage, inspections, and vendor coordination.
• Support environmental monitoring for air, water, and waste streams.
• Oversee electrical safety programs for 480V systems and high‑voltage equipment.
• Coordinate lockout/tagout procedures and energized work permits.
• Maintain EHS records, permits, SDS files and reporting.
• Coordinate EHS training for employees and contractors.
• Partner with operations and engineering to identify hazards and implement corrective actions.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Technician III, Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) to support a highly technical advanced manufacturing operation in Long Beach, CA. This is a hands-on, lead-level position supporting day-to-day EHS activities across production, mechanical, and facility environments. The ideal candidate brings strong experience with hazardous waste and chemical safety, industrial equipment safety, regulatory compliance, and high-voltage electrical environments.

What You'll Do:

• Manage hazardous metal and chemical waste programs, including labeling, storage, accumulation areas, inspections, manifesting, and vendor coordination.
• Support environmental monitoring related to air, water, waste streams, and sustainability programs.
• Support electrical safety programs involving 480V systems and high-voltage equipment.
• Verify lockout/tagout procedures and support energized work permitting.
• Oversee safety requirements for cranes, hoists, aerial lifts, and powered industrial equipment.
• Track equipment certifications and coordinate required safety inspections.
• Support compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA, and applicable industry standards.
• Assist with regulatory permits, inventories, compliance submissions, and required reporting.
• Participate in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action follow-up.
• Support emergency response activities, including spills, evacuation drills, first aid, and electrical incidents.
• Respond to workplace medical incidents within the scope of training and maintain first aid and AED equipment.
• Maintain EHS records, permits, SDS files, inspection logs, and compliance documentation.
• Conduct or coordinate EHS training for employees and contractors.
• Partner with operations, maintenance, engineering, and quality teams to identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
