Qualifications

Job Overview

The Technician III plays a vital role in the Emergency Department, supporting patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Responsibilities include customer service, clinical support, and administrative tasks.

Responsibilities
  1. Provide care according to standards for emotional support and activities of daily living, respecting individual, cultural, and religious needs.
  2. Support patient safety initiatives such as maintaining a quiet environment, hourly rounds, and fall prevention.
  3. Process patient care orders accurately and promptly, communicating with the RN or relevant department.
  4. Educate patients and families about procedures and prepare necessary supplies.
  5. Obtain vital signs, measurements, and apply cardiac monitoring; troubleshoot basic issues.
  6. Perform procedures such as EKGs, IV insertions, phlebotomy, and wound care, and educate patients about these procedures.
  7. Follow infection control protocols and use PPE appropriately.
  8. Collect and label specimens per protocol.
  9. Assist with patient mobility, ensuring comfort and safety using proper body mechanics.
  10. Communicate effectively with the care team regarding patient flow and unit information.
  11. Restock supplies, check and maintain equipment, and manage patient belongings.
  12. Serve as a mentor for new staff members.
Credentials
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (Required)
  • Certified Nurse Aid or CNA preferred
Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)
  • 0-1 years of experience in an acute care setting or clinical experience as a student nurse.
  • Successful completion of training and competency validation as an Emergency Technician II, with completion of ED Tech III training and competencies.
