100% onsite at 4800 Davis Dr. Morrisville, NC 27650
Shift - Mon - Thurs 8:30 pm - 7:00 am

Top 3 Musts: In this case it's 2 musts and 1 strongly preferred (in order)

  1. Experience in fast-paced work environments (think retail/food industry/warehouse/factory). While a laboratory environment, this role is much more similar to manufacturing/retail/food industry roles with hour-by-hour deadlines than research roles (a critical sticking point for associates in the past).
  2. Personality - A candidate who fits the RTP IDT culture pillars (Mutually Trusts, Humble, Collaborative, Continuously Improves).
  3. Familiarity with good lab practices (strongly preferred).

The Technician (Synthesis) synthesizes custom oligonucleotides according to the customer's order. This generally includes synthesis, cleavage, deprotection and QC sampling of the products being made.

Job Specific Essential Functions:

  • Synthesizes oligos on various synthesizer platforms.
  • Cleaves and deprotects oligos utilizing appropriate methods.
  • Quantifies and samples oligos for quality control tests.
  • Attaches modifications utilizing various techniques.
  • Adheres to safety regulations, lab SOPs, and contamination controls.
  • Uses lab equipment including limited maintenance and troubleshooting activities.
  • Uses custom software packages to complete tasks and create final product.
  • Assesses QC data accurately and makes pass/fail decisions for oligos.
  • Handles expensive oligos and reagents.
  • Keeps thorough records of specialized processes in the oligo process history.
  • Follows documented custom instructions, when applicable.
  • Demonstrates behavior consistent with the Integrated DNA Technologies Core Values.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Specific Essential Functions:

  • Prepares oligos for final shipment to customer or for further processing in other departments.
  • Uses aids and SOPs to make production path decisions.
  • Additional essential functions may differ by department/group.

Education:

  • US - High School diploma or GED, OUS - Local equivalent required.
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in science related field preferred.

Experience:

  • Proficiency in a variety of PC software programs with strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office required.
  • 1+ years of successful experience in rapid paced work environments preferred.
