The Technician will custom oligonucleotides according to the customer's order. This generally includes synthesis, cleavage, deprotection and QC sampling of the products being made.

Job Specific Essential Functions:

  1. Synthesizes oligos on various synthesizer platforms
  2. Cleaves and deprotects oligos utilizing appropriate methods
  3. Quantifies and samples oligos for quality control tests
  4. Attaches modifications utilizing various techniques
  5. Adheres to safety regulations, lab SOPs, and contamination controls
  6. Uses lab equipment including limited maintenance and troubleshooting activities
  7. Uses custom software packages to complete tasks and create final product
  8. Assesses QC data accurately and makes pass/fail decisions for oligos
  9. Handles expensive oligos and reagents
  10. Keeps thorough records of specialized processes in the oligo process history
  11. Follows documented custom instructions, when applicable
  12. Performs other duties as assigned

Position Specific Essential Functions:

  1. Prepares oligos for final shipment to customer or for further processing in other departments
  2. Uses aids and SOPs to make production path decisions
  3. Additional essential functions may differ by department/group

Education:

  1. Associate's (2 year) degree or comparable combination of education and experience required.
  2. Bachelor's (4 year) degree preferred. Science related field preferred.

Experience:

  1. Proficiency in a variety of PC software programs with strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office required

Physical Requirements:
Exert up to 20-50lbs. of force occasionally and/or 10-15 lbs up to a minimal amount of force frequently.
