Job summary
TSI Incorporated in Shoreview, MN is seeking a Manufacturing Technician II to troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical and electronic assemblies in a manufacturing environment, interfacing with engineering and production teams to ensure 100% performance and on-time shipping.
Candidates should have a High School Diploma or GED with 5+ years of technician experience; Electronic Technology AA degree preferred with 3+ years experience.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED with 5+ years relevant Technician experience.
- Electronic Technology AA degree or Certificate preferred with 3+ years relevant experience.
- In lieu of technical degree, 2-3 years of electrical or computer engineering coursework with 3+ years relevant experience.
- Experience testing, diagnostics, trouble shooting and repair of PCA circuit boards and complex instrumentation.
- Experience troubleshooting mechanical and electrical devices to component level is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical and electrical assemblies to component level.
- Analyze errors in electronic design and production.
- Provide advice and feedback on corrective actions.
- Provide technical assistance and guidance to other technical personnel.
- Work with engineering on functionality issues and new products.
- Improve setup, calibration and test procedures for equipment orders.
- Provide training to new build and service assemblers.
- Communicate with engineering on product performance issues.
- Assist the Technical support group with customer needs.
- Edit and query Microsoft Database.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Follow safety guidelines and report unsafe conditions.

The Manufacturing Technician II position is the mid-level for the technician group. They must possess all the experience and core competencies required of a Manufacturing Technician I plus additional experience. This position will be working in a manufacturing environment trouble shooting and repairing complex mechanical and electronic assemblies used in a variety of TSI equipment to the component level. This position is responsible for interfacing with Manufacturing Assembly, Engineering, and internal and external customers to assist them in trouble shooting and repairing TSI equipment. Our goal for shipping TSI equipment is 100% correct (equipment meets performance specifications) and 100% on-time. This position will be responsible for TSI new, service and sales inventory equipment repair, check out and test.
- Trouble shoots and repair complex mechanical and electrical assemblies used in TSI equipment to the component level.
- Analyze errors in electronic design and production.
- Provides advice and feedback on corrective actions.
- Provides technical assistance and guidance to other technical personnel.
- Work with engineering on functionality issues, procedure updates, introduction of new products and equipment.
- Continually improve the setup, calibration and test procedures used on the new and service equipment orders.
- Provide training when necessary to the new build and service assemblers in your area.
- Communicate with engineering on product performance and functionality issues.
- Assist the Technical support group with our customers’ needs for technical support.
- Editing and querying Microsoft Database.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Follow all safety guidelines and report unsafe conditions to supervisor.
- Complete other assignments and special projects as requested.
Education and Work Experience
- High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of 5 years relevant Technician experience required
- Electronic Technology AA degree or Certificate preferred with 3+ years relevant experience
- In lieu of Technical AA Degree/Certificate, 2-3 years of electrical or computer engineering coursework as part of a Bachelor’s Degree preferred with 3+ years of relevant experience
Experience
- Experience in testing, diagnostics, trouble shooting and repair of PCA circuit boards and complex instrumentation preferred
- Experience trouble shooting and repairing mechanical and electrical devices to the component level a plus
- Experience responding to internal and external customers and developing a better understanding of the business a plus
Knowledge
- Knowledge of electronic components and their usage in electronic circuits.
- Advanced knowledge of electronic test equipment (i.e. Oscilloscope, VOM and other test equipment).

Competitive market salary from $58,344- $62,920 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities may be available and awarded at the discretion of the Company.
