Job summary

Spire Inc. is seeking a Technician II, Field Operations in Wentzville, MO. The role covers field operations and maintenance on Spire Midstream pipeline facilities to ensure safe, reliable gas transport, in compliance with DOT and company procedures.

The candidate will perform readings, patrols, and coordinate with contractors across Illinois and Missouri, with on-call requirements. Required education includes a high school diploma or GED and a Missouri Class E Chauffeur's license.

Qualifications

• 5–15 years' experience in installation, replacement and/or maintenance of various sizes of steel pipe.
• Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
• Must respond to abnormal operating conditions within two hours from home.

Responsibilities

• Perform cathodic protection and test station reads.
• Perform leak surveys and right-of-way patrols.
• Monitor pipeline right-of-way for encroachments and environmental conditions.
• Maintain pipeline markers and inventory; repair test stations and equipment.
• Coordinate with contractors near pipelines and document field work.
• Complete paperwork and data entry for Payroll, Engineering, Compliance, and Safety.

Spire is seeking Technician II, Field Operations to work in various Eastern Missouri Counties. This position will be responsible for performing field operations and maintenance tasks on Spire Midstream pipeline facilities to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient transportation of natural gas across the system in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) and company O&M procedures..

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform cathodic protection and test station reads.
• Perform leak surveys and right-of-way patrols.
• Monitor the pipeline right-of-way for encroachments and environmental conditions (e.g. erosion, slope failure).
• Monitor and respond to abnormal operating conditions.
• Maintain pipeline markers and manage pipeline marker inventory.
• Maintain and repair pipeline test stations.
• Maintain and repair various pipeline equipment.
• Perform all emergent and non-emergent locate requests in Illinois and Missouri.
• Coordinate with contractors as it pertains to work on or near the pipeline right of way and facilities.
• Document company and contractor field work with photographs and inspection reports.
• Evaluate and document condition of external pipeline coating.
• Complete necessary paperwork and/or data entry, via computer, for Payroll, Engineering, Compliance, Claims, Safety and others.
• Regularly uses the technologies used within the field operations department to validate work.
• Maintain Operator Qualifications related to job duties.
• Be available for weekend and after hour responsibilities as required by work being performed.
• Assists the Measurement team with the operation and maintenance of metering and regulating equipment.
• All other duties as assigned.

Required Education (certifications, licenses)

• High school diploma or GED equivalent, required.
• Missouri Class E Chauffeur's license, required.

Required knowledge, skill and abilities

• 5-15 years' experience in the installation, replacement and/or maintenance of various sizes of steel pipe.
• Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
• Must be able to respond to abnormal operating conditions and emergent one calls within two hours from home.

Physical demands, environment and schedule

• Ability to safely lift 50 lbs. overhead.
• Ability to safely traverse uneven terrain.
• A mix of normal office conditions and outdoors in all weather conditions and in areas exposed to loud audible noises.
• Abnormal working hours required as dictated by contractor work.
• One week of on call is required every two to four weeks.
• Travels to all areas of the pipeline right-of-way
