Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance, calibration and repair on production equipment.
  • Work with production and engineering personnel in a team environment.
  • Follow safety and testing protocols per MCSO guidelines.
  • Interface with OEMs and contractors for repairs.
  • Analyze data and assist in PM schedule optimization.
  • Attend trainings on site or at supplier facilities.

Job Description:

Microchip Technology in Colorado Springs is looking for a skilled Technician to perform preventive maintenance, calibration and repair of various toolsets within the Microchip's Colorado Springs (MCSO) Test Operations and development areas of responsibility. This includes but is not limited to wafer probers, package handlers, ATE testers, ovens, and all associated equipment. This technician will support production and engineering personnel. This is a small group setting where interpersonal relations skills are important.

Shift:

(Nights) Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, every other Thursday 7pm-7:12am

Responsibilities:
  • Must be able to work effectively in a team environment and demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Provide clear and concise written and verbal communication with maintenance technicians, production, engineering and suppliers.
  • Self-motivated, with the integrity to work with limited supervision.
  • Support improvement activities/teams with active participation.
  • Follow MCSO Test Operations manufacturing and safety protocol.
  • Apply appropriate diagnostic techniques to identify and correct common failures on equipment sets and work with other technicians or engineers to collect and analyze process data.
  • Utilize available training materials and certification requirements to assist in meeting assigned personal improvement goals.
  • Interface with OEM suppliers and contractors on completion of repairs.
  • Provide input to assist with development and optimization of equipment preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Participate in work area team meetings.
  • Attend training schools and sessions both on site and at suppliers' facilities to obtain knowledge and experience with assigned equipment sets.

Requirements/Qualifications:
  • 2+ years' work-related experience/training required
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • AS technical degree, electronics or Military electronics certificate preferred
  • Ability to perform PM and general maintenance on electro-mechanical production equipment.
  • Ability to work from schematics, mechanical drawings, or written instructions.
  • Experience in the use of multimeters, soldering irons and mechanical tools.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
  • Ability to use MS Office.
  • Experience repairing semiconductor wafer fabrication equipment.
  • Electro-mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to interface with parts or service vendors.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with electrical and/or mechanical equipment repair.
  • Experience repairing Probe or Fab equipment.
Other Requirements:

Must be flexible to move to a traditional compressed shift when production is moved to compressed scheduling. This includes weekends.
